Even just arriving at the Convent de la Missió is an exciting experience. You’ll be more than a little bit surprised when you step inside the monastic hallways of this 4 star hotel in a quiet little side street near the cathedral. Contemporary artwork, trendy furniture and a minimalist design form a fabulous combination under medieval vaulted ceilings. The 14 double rooms and suites boast a summery white, light and airy design combined with modern amenities. The unique hotel concept offered here is rounded off by an intimate vaulted bar and a small spa area. City hotel: Past & present in a central location
Despite its fashionable design concept, this hotel has been at the heart of the town of Palma for centuries. The former 17th-century convent is situated in the old town next to a church with the same name. Surrounded by narrow streets and leafy courtyards, it was once dedicated to the education of missionaries and is now, after an extensive, three-year renovation project, a fantastic summertime retreat away from the tourist hordes. Highlights include the large rooms and exceptionally friendly staff. Design hotel: Light and airy feel
With a trendy design in bright colors (especially white), the old monastery has been transported into the present, whilst still keeping its sense of tranquility and meditative character. The minimalist approach also draws your attention to the historic architecture with its vaults, tiled archways and beamed ceilings. Glass, wood, sandstone and white linen lend the rooms a light and airy feel. Just as beautiful are the bathrooms which combine these natural materials with crisp white ceramics. Food & drink: Breakfast on the terrace & English award-winning cuisine
This little monastery building is also home to Palma’s well-known Simply Fosh restaurant, which is run by award-winning chef Marc Fosh. In a similarly historic, simple ambiance to the hotel itself, this English gourmet chef conjures up light, perfectly coordinated menus. The breakfast is served in a separate, equally tastefully decorated dining room. A buffet with a good selection and the highest quality, fresh produce and excellent coffee can be supplemented by additional orders taken by the waiting staff. The best place to enjoy it all is sat outside on the small decked terrace area. There are also two fantastic bars – an intimate vaulted bar, and the Art Bar - a large space with changing art exhibitions and bar service. Sports & leisure: Relax in the mini spa
For relaxation all guests can use the Convent de la Missió mini spa with sauna, jacuzzi and hammam. Location: Quiet old town location within walking distance of the cathedral
The Convent de la Missió is situated in a narrow side street in the old town of Palma, about 1000m from the cathedral. The immediate neighborhood is nice and quiet. The nearest beach (Playa de Cascala) is 2km away. The hotel has its own garage.
