The foundation stone of the former Benedictine monastery clearly dates back to the 8th century and was laid by King Alfons I (“the Catholic”). Renovated true to the original but with the addition of another wing, it combines Medieval architecture with modern hotel facilities. The atmosphere
The 4 star hotel Parador de Cangas de Onís is made up of two building parts, connected by a modern glass corridor. Some of the communal areas and 64 rooms are housed in the old, listed wing. Most of the rooms at this romantic hotel are situated in the new part. The seamless mix of historic architecture and modern facilities makes it very attractive. Choose whether you’d like to stay in the old or the new part and the staff will accommodate your needs where possible. Meals are enjoyed in an underground restaurant with a pointed glass roof (similar to that of the Louvre in Paris).
