This little gem of a hotel, which since the 1960s has enjoyed an excellent reputation in this popular resort on the Amalfi Coast, climbs up the rocky cliff face with its 6 floors. At its feet is a local beach, in front of which the Bay of Positano stretches out with the open sea beyond. With a shady restaurant terrace, a well-maintained pool with views of the sea, and a balcony or terrace in every room, the Poseidon really makes the most of its stunning location. The rooms themselves are decorated in a wonderfully old-fashioned style that brings the 1960s back to life. The service too is "old school": discreet, courteous and very professional, from the receptionists to the porters to the housekeeping team. Romantic hotel: Intimate atmosphere & stunning views
The Hotel Poseidon is a top tip for anyone who likes a grand old hotel. Housed in an old villa, today’s hotel offers a total of 48 guest rooms. In keeping with the building, the interior design takes its steer from the glamorous 1960s, right down to the smallest of details. Cherry wood furniture, polished brass lamps, gold-framed mirrors, Persian rugs and tiled bathrooms in bright colors are reminiscent of this style-conscious era. For special occasions book one of the exclusive suites or junior suites. The magnificent views over the coast and the sea from many but not all of the rooms are really romantic. And don’t leave without a candle-lit dinner on the leafy terrace of the hotel restaurant. Long after you’ve returned home you’ll still remember enjoying the delicious breakfast in the sun with sea views. Beach hotel: Picturesque bay with great panoramic view
In the center of the resort lies the beach of Positano, beautifully framed by the steep cliffs of the bay with the magnificent villas of this small picturesque coastal town atop. Here you can rent sun loungers, umbrellas and even boats. The Poseidon is situated halfway up the cliff face with a pathway leading you down to the beach on foot. The walk can be a little tricky, but it takes you along the winding alleyways of the town which is a wonderful experience! Food & drink: Champagne breakfast & Neapolitan cuisine
The day at the Poseidon starts with a delicious Italian breakfast (on request with champagne), which can be enjoyed outside when the weather is nice. The hotel restaurant "Il Tridente" serves typical Neapolitan cuisine with an emphasis on fish, vegetables and homemade pasta. The excellent pizzas are an ideal choice for lunch. Meals are served in an elegant dining room, the former living room of the old villa. The most beautiful place to eat is the bougainvillea-clad terrace with shade offered by a canopy of vines. Leisure & sports: Panoramic pool, wellness & fitness
At the spa and beauty center with Turkish bath, massage and shiatsu room guests can round off a relaxing vacation with a bit of wellness (on request). There is also a fitness room with modern cardio equipment. Location: Spectacular views & 10 mins to the beach
The location is absolutely unbeatable. Like the whole of the town, this hotel clings to the cliff face overlooking the Bay of Positano. The beach is about a 10-minute walk down and 15 minutes back up. The parking situation is difficult in Positano but the hotel does have 25 private spaces.
