The Canonica di Corteranzo Relais is situated in the small town of Murisengo, in the heart of the northernmost wine region of Italy. A number of features make every single day in this small hotel a truly authentic experience. The house together with its spacious garden and pool sits on a hillside above a surrounding plain with nothing but woodland, vineyards, meadows and fields in sight. Inside, there are 9 double rooms and one suite where you can relax in a typical Italian country house setting. Each one is painted in an elegant color and is finished off with matching patterned bed linen, fine wood furniture and period accessories. Some of the rooms have a huge arched window overlooking the garden and the picturesque hills of Monferrato. The cherry on the cake is the unbeatable friendly service from the owners Gabrielle and Emma, who welcome and look after their guests like old friends!
Vineyard hotel: Piedmontese wine & great vineyard views
Wine plays a major role at the Canonica di Corteranzo Relais. Quality Barbera grapes are grown in the area surrounding the hotel. The on-site wine cellar is well stocked and can be visited on request. The family’s passion for good wine goes hand in hand with the slow food philosophy that’s used in the kitchen. Gabrielle and Emma also lead very educational wine tasting sessions (on request).
Spa hotel: Panoramic pool & mini-spa
In the garden of this hotel you’ll find an absolutely beautiful pool area. The large pool itself is surrounded like a balcony by a wrought-iron balustrade and boasts spectacular countryside views. The Canonica di Corteranzo also has a small spa area with bio sauna, salt steam bath, infrared sauna, aromatherapy showers and a hot tub.
Historic hotel: From hunting lodge to rectory to country house hotel
This picturesque property was built in the 17th century as a hunting lodge and later served as a parish rectory for many years. Since 2003 it has been owned by the Calvo family. Over a three-year renovation period they have transformed it into a grand country house hotel.
Eating & drinking: Breakfast fit for a king & regional gourmet cuisine
“Breakfast” just isn’t enough to describe mornings at the Canonica di Corteranzo Relais. Served under a beautiful vaulted ceiling, breakfast is a celebration of simple yet delicious homegrown and local produce. The cheeses, meat and eggs come from local providers. The bread, cakes and jams are homemade. In the evening you can request multi-course gourmet menus of authentic, local dishes served in a small dining room. There are also wines from the hotel’s own vineyard and cellar.

The hotel is best for travelers who are interested in wine and its cultivation. In the local area you can take wonderful walks and bike rides. In the hotel itself, as well as the spa and pool you’ll also find a a cozy lounge with fireplace for quiet reading.
