Do you sometimes wish to be on a small, lonely island? Do nothing for once, look out over the ocean and laze around at your heart’s content? Then a vacation on the island of El Hierro, the smallest and westernmost Canary Island, is just the ticket. The 4 star hotel Parador de El Hierro is waiting for you on the approximately 250 square kilometer volcanic island off Tenerife!
The Parador de El Hierro
A vacation in the Parador de El Hierro is like a shipwreck with a return ticket. This romantic hotel sits in a location straight out of paradise, stuck between the ocean and the steep clifflines of the eastern coast of El Hierro. Not typical for a Parador but unusually interesting is the architecture: This 4 star hotel is housed in a tastefully and very harmonic new building. The panorama is more than impressive—absolutely unbeatable. The enormous volcanic mountains in your back, you look out over the open ocean. The best thing is that you can not only look out over the ocean whenever you like, but you can also listen to the surf breaking while you’re at it. The cuisine in the Parador de El Hierro convinces through those attributes known to those who’ve already stayed in a Parador: the food is strongly influenced by the region and excellently prepared.
The 45 guest rooms in the 4 star Hotel Parador de El Hierro are presented classically comfortably and tended to flawlessly. An interior in colonial style with tasteful colors and plenty of wood give the rooms a nice atmosphere. Who has gotten a room with facing the sea can, when the weather permits, breakfast on their own terrace with a view of the ocean.
Considering the relatively low number of rooms in the Parador de El Hierro, it has a high number of hotel amenities on offer. The interior of this romantic hotel includes two bright and inviting dining rooms, a large communal living room with several seating corners and comfortable sofas, a bar, a fitness room, and a sauna. Outside, a spacious swimming pool and a mini golf course with fabulous view over the bay, the mountains, and the open ocean await. The excellent restaurant of this island hotel offers typical Canarian specialties such as the hefty cheese soup to tasty seafood dishes all the way to fig cake.
Vacation on El Hierro
The inhabitants of El Hierro try to keep out of tourism on the island as much as possible. So, the journey here is not direct: you’ll have to catch a plane or boat from Tenerife. To add, there aren’t many sand beaches on this Canary Island. So El Hierro has to this day remained a secret tip for nature lovers and individualistic travelers.
