Hotel description

The Hacienda de Abajo finds itself situated amid beautiful, natural and tranquil surroundings with stunning views over the blue ocean and the neighbouring banana plantations. The adults-only-concept, which welcomes guests from the age of 18, ensures a comfortable stay in a romantic and peaceful atmosphere. The hotel, constructed from several historic buildings, is surrounded by a small garden as well as a much larger botanical garden, onto which most guest rooms look out. A prayer house designed according to Spanish tradition, a separate bathhouse with wellness treatments, and a large collection of art with furniture, sculptures, carvings and porcelain from various decades, all contribute to the particular charm of this boutique hotel. In each room, art lovers will make interesting discoveries.
Boutique hotel: charming and surrounded by art
32 rooms, ranging from 32 to 74 m² and in various restored buildings, are available at the Hacienda de Abajo hotel. Most rooms have their own balcony, a terrace or a garden and each room has been decorated individually, with pieces of art both old and new. The deluxe single room of the hotel for example houses the original bed of the Spanish heir to the throne Carlos Vll. Due to the small size of the Hacienda de Abajo, the hotel maintains an air of privacy and homely comfort. A tastefullt decorated dining room and freshwater pool in the garden of the hotel add to the overall beauty of the hotel.
Romantic hotel: Beautiful surroundings and comfortable rooms
The tranquil surroundings of the Hacienda de Abajo really do add to its beauty. The land of the former sugar-cane plantation is now home to a wonderful botanical garden with rare plants from all over the world. The terracotta facades and wooden roofs, as well as the various art pieces all combine to create the very particular character of the hotel. The rooms feature precious art objects such as sculptures of the Tang Dynasty or religious carvings from the 17th Century. Rooms come with historical beds from China, Germany or Majorca, bathrobes and a spacious bathroom with bathtub, perfect for relaxing in the evening. The mini-bar provides the Prosecco that guests may wish to indulge in.
Food and drink: Half-board and breakfast buffet
At the Hacienda de Abajo, the cuisine on offer is truly fitting with the beauty and high-quality of the hotel. The hotel’s own restaurant ‘El Sitio’ is located on the first floor of the main building and offers diners a wonderful combination of both local and international dishes. In the mornings guests can choose between an extensive breakfast buffet and a delicious continental breakfast on the terrace. For guests who opt for the half-board option, meals will be provided for both breakfast and dinner, and for lunch the hotel offers a fresh à la Carte menu.
Location: On ‘la isla bonita’
The hotel Hacienda de Abajo is located on the Canary Island of La Palma. It is situated in the middle of the historic centre of Villa y Puerto de Tazacorte, the area of Spain which benefits from the most hours of sunlight throughout the year. La Palma is known as ‘la isla bonita’, or ‘the beautiful island’ – thanks to its lush vegetation. The Atlantic Ocean is also very close to the hotel, making excursions and walks very easy and accessible due to the prime location.
