The Maison d’Ulysse promises a romantic getaway to the heart of Provence in a historic country house dating back to the 16th century. On this medieval farmstead you’ll find 7 charming rooms, a quiet courtyard and a fabulous garden with pool. Historic: Atmosphere of an old farmhouse
The Maison d’Ulysse was once a fortified farmhouse dating back to the 16th century, which owes its name to its former owner, the poet and archaeologist Ulysse Dumas. Recognized by the Foundation for Cultural Heritage, it has maintained the original character of a country house even after its renovation and contemporary interior refurbishment. Boutique: Privacy and exclusivity
The hotel has just 7 rooms, 3 of which are suites. The rooms have each been individually decorated and are 30-60sqm in size. Some of them also offer a separate living room and terrace. All of the guest rooms have a bathroom with shower and toilet. The guest suite "Belle du Seigneur" also boasts a beautiful old fireplace. A small number of guests means that even when it’s fully booked, a quiet, almost private atmosphere dominates. Romantic: Mulberry trees and Provencal countryside
The property is surrounded by centuries-old oak, mulberry and fig trees. Its location in the heart of southern France, far from the tourist hotspots, will make you feel like the only tourist for miles around. The hosts offer a warm welcome and are always on hand to give advice and tips to make sure you have an unforgettable vacation here. Wooden beams and relaxed afternoons in the Mediterranean garden with views over the old brick farm building are the perfect ingredients for a really romantic stay. Eating & drinking: Regional breakfast, weekly communal dinner
Lunch is served à la carte and, depending on the season, either on the terrace, courtyard patio or in the dining room. The hosts make sure to always use seasonal produce grown in their own garden or ingredients from local suppliers. An elaborately prepared breakfast treats guests to homemade jam and cakes, cheese, eggs, cold meats, fruit and yogurt, everything sourced from the surrounding area. Every Monday the hosts also invite their guests to enjoy a communal evening meal. Sport & leisure: spa and excursions
The sun terrace with pinewood floor at the Maison d’Ulysse is perfect for lazy afternoons. Swim a few lengths in the pool to keep cool, and enjoy the attentive pool service while you’re there. A Turkish bath has been integrated into the building’s historic vaults. If you want to explore the surrounding area then pay a visit to the Bamboo Plantation in Anduze, or go for a canoe trip, swim and picnic at the River Gardon. Culture lovers will be fascinated by the medieval city of Uzès, which is a good 7km away. Location: the rolling hills of Provence
The Maison d’Ulysse is situated in Baron, in the region of Garrigues, a hilly area in the southern Cévennes hills of Provence. From the hotel you can enjoy wonderful views over the whole valley as far as the old Duchy of Uzès (12km away).
