The Hotel Rivalago in Sulzano on the southeastern shore of the lake charms guests from the moment they arrive with its glamorous, typically Italian atmosphere. It is housed in a large, white-washed villa with garden, terrace and lakeside pool. The views are simply fantastic, and extend - unobstructed - right across the lake and to Monte Isola (the largest island in southern Europe’s inland waters). The interiors are finished in a traditional Italian style. Bright, summery colors and classic furniture create a typical Mediterranean atmosphere with a Provencal touch. For a really special stay, book one of the junior suites that have their own panoramic terrace overlooking Lake Iseo.

Romantic hotel: Four-poster bed & lake views

If your idea of a romantic break away has to include lake views, then book one of the 4 junior suites at this hotel. They are all situated on the third floor and each one has a furnished terrace with far-reaching lake views. The spaciously designed rooms each offer a large four-poster bed plus a colorfully tiled bathroom with huge rain shower.

Lakeside hotel: Great scenery and fresh air

The hotel’s picturesque location on the banks of the lake is hard to beat - especially in summer. During the day you can lie on a sun lounger and read under the elegant white parasols. Now and then, soak up the lake views. Later on you can return here for a glass of wine in the soft evening light. The hotel even has its own boat jetty. Boats can be rented from the hotel directly.

Quiet hotel: Relaxed atmosphere & sheltered location

The Hotel Rivalago is ideal for a quiet, relaxing vacation. The small number of rooms guarantees a relaxed feel both at breakfast as well as by the pool and for a nightcap in the bar. The garden has a nice, sheltered location between the hotel buildings and the lake. And the guest rooms themselves are also really quiet.

Eating & drinking: Breakfast & snacks from the bar

The day starts with a really nicely presented breakfast buffet (7.30-11am) either in the breakfast room overlooking the lake or outside in the garden when the weather is nice. The hotel itself doesn’t offer a restaurant for lunch or dinner, but there is a restaurant under different management on the grounds. In the surround area (including on the island in the lake, which is accessible by boat) you’ll find a range of really good restaurants. The lovely hotel staff are happy to help with recommendations and table reservations. Small snacks can be ordered from the hotel bar.

Sports & leisure: Boat trips and afternoons by the pool

The lake is ideal for boating. You can ’set sail’ directly at the hotel and take in a variety of towns around the lake or visit the island of Monte Isola. The motor boats can be booked through an agency at reception. Or you can use the public ferry connections to get across the lake. Cars, bicycles and canoes can also be rented at the hotel. If you like to take life at a slightly slower pace, then spend the afternoon with a good book by the pool. In the fall the pool is heated, meaning that you can still enjoy a swim with views of the lake.
