Hotel description
Steindl’s Boutique Hotel, with 21 rooms and suites, offers guests modern comforts and proximity to nature. Guests can enjoy views over the valley from the garden, the roof terrace or their private balcony. This small yet innovative hotel places special emphasis on sustainability and boasts an energy performance certificate. It offers direct access to a ski area and features a relaxing sauna.
Mountain Hotel: Sustainable wood architecture and valley views
Steindl’s Boutique Hotel is located at the foot of the 1,860m Rosskopf peak, overlooking a wide valley, through which the Eisack river winds. Guests can enjoy sweeping views from the sun loungers on the roof terrace, as well as the garden. The architecture of the hotel is based on a modern interpretation of a tree house, and the building’s wooden facade blends perfectly into the stunning landscape of South Tyrol. The hotel was constructed using natural materials from the region. Through insulation and other energy saving measures, the hotel strives to achieve carbon neutrality, and has been certified as a ’Climahouse’.
Boutique Hotel: South Tyrolean charm with modern design
Steindl’s Boutique Hotel is designed over three levels according to the themes ’garden’, ’tree’ and ’clouds’ - themes that have been worked unobtrusively into the 21 guest rooms. While the ground-floor rooms have access to private gardens, the first-floor rooms - which feature balconies and bright wooden furniture - encourage the feeling you are sleeping in a cosy tree house. The Cloud Comfort rooms on the second floor offer direct access to the roof terrace and feature impressive views over the rooftops of Sterzing. The charming South Tyrolean-style wooden furnishings are presented within in a modern yet simple setting. The low carbon concept was imagined by Werner Steindl and masterfully implemented by architect and interior designer Dr. Stefan Taschler. The rooms are equipped with comfortable natural wooden beds, minimalist furniture and flat screen TVs. The spacious bathrooms feature large mirrors and frosted glass panes. The suites and studios include bathtubs and kitchenettes for self-catering.
Sport Hotel: Ski lift on the doorstep, cycling, hiking and climbing
The South Tyrolean Wipptal, with its peaks of up to 1,450m, is ideal for a variety of sporting activities. The Rosskopf cable car and toboggan run are right on the doorstep. The Rosskopf winter ski area includes blue and red pistes, trails for cross country skiing and a ski school. Snowboard and ski equipment can be accommodated in the hotel’s ski storage room. In summer, the mountains surrounding the hotel are perfect for hiking, Nordic walking, climbing, mountaineering and mountain biking. Canoeing is also possible in the local area. A swimming pool, riding stables and fitness centre can all be found in the vicinity of the hotel. For a fee, the hotel provides E-bikes (electronic bikes) that can comfortably conquer the steepest route. The Munich-Verona cycle route passes directly by the hotel.
Eating & Drinking: Tyrolean specialities, café and lounge
The days starts at Steindl’s Boutique Hotel with a buffet of regional dishes, that can be taken either in the breakfast room or in your room. The ingredients are sourced primarily from local mountain farmers. The hotel has no restaurant, but collaborates with various restaurants in Sterzing and the wider area. The staff will gladly inform guests of their recommendations. The hotel café serves an excellent cappuccino, which you can enjoy in peace in the brightly decorated lounge.
Sport & Leisure: Activities in both summer and winter, in-house sauna, golf and tennis nearby
The countryside surrounding Steindl’s Boutique Hotel offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities in the fresh mountain air, all year round. In winter, the Rosskopf ski area and toboggan run are within easy reach. In summer, hiking, cycling and climbing are on the menu. Guests can explore the local area with the hotel’s E-bike rental service. Thumburg golf course is around 1km away, and a tennis court is also close-by. After a day of action, the hotel also offers plenty of opportunities to relax. You can unwind in the 28 square-metre spa area, where guests can enjoy free use of the Finnish sauna. A range of restaurants, bars and shops can be found in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. The town of Sterzing - with nearly 6,000 inhabitants - features an historic old town and several museums and galleries ripe for exploring.
