Spa Hotel: Turkish bath, thermal pool and hydrotherapy
Featuring a thermal pool, Finnish sauna and Turkish bath the spa area, designed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, invites you to relax. For swimming there is a heated outdoor swimming pool and an indoor pool with jacuzzi available. If you wish, visit the relaxation room where guests can relax and choose from the wide range of treatments. In addition to medical and relaxing massages such as cleansing and back or neck massages, there are also scrubs, wraps and pedicures on the pampering programme. In the hydrotherapy room gushes of water and compresses of different temperatures are expertly applied.
Design Hotel: Free-standing slate buildings with award-winning design
With their slate construction the 7 Eco-Homes and 8 Tree Houses fit perfectly with the surrounding nature of the Pedras Salgadas Park. The hotel has been awarded for such a successful design feat with the T+L Design Award 2014. The architect Luís Rebelo Andrade designed both the architectural concept and the interiors. The 61.5 square meters of each Eco-Home is divided into 2 bedrooms, a living area, a kitchenette and a comfortable bathroom. The entrance leads to a spacious veranda. The Tree Houses are designed as free-standing objects which have a bedroom, a living room with kitchenette and a two-part bathing area. There’s a roof window which opens to reveal views to the sky. Each of the accommodation options feature state-of-the-art Dolby surround sound system, LED TVs, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning The kitchenettes are fully equipped with coffee machine, microwave oven and dishwasher. The service team takes care of laundry and post, and a 24-hour concierge is available for any other services you may require during your stay.
Nature Hotel: Sustainable architecture in the middle of the nature
In the heart of Pedras Salgadas Parks the Pedras Salgadas Spa & Nature Park is surrounded by trees, some more than 100 years old. On a climbing expedition you can explore the peaks of the Serra da Estrela, and the numerous springs which bubble from the ground. Featuring sustainable architecture and responsible resource management, the Pedras Salgadas aims to protect this precious natural heritage. Blending with the environment almost seamlessly, materials from the region were used for the construction, such as wood from renewable stocks and slate. Heat-resistant floors, a good insulation and waste water treatment ensures a low energy and raw material consumption across the establishment.
Food & Drink: Authentic Northern Portuguese cuisine and distinctive wines from the region
The ‘Casa de Chá Restaurant’ offers half-board à la carte. In the morning, a regional breakfast buffet awaits guests, which can be enjoyed either on the terrace or can be ordered to your own room. The authentic cuisine of the Trás-os-Montes region is served, which is known for dishes such as Presunto ham and Alheira sausage specialities. In the evening guests can try Posta à Mirandesa, a roasted calf dish, or Feijoada à Transmontana, a typical northern Portuguese bean stew, as well as wines from the region, which are buried in the earth and left to ripen for at least a whole year before they are ready to drink.
Sports & Leisure: Large area with pools, casino, mini golf and lake area
The thermal bath with Finnish sauna, Turkish steam bath and massage service is just one of the facilities on the grounds of Pedras Salgadas Parks; there is also a casino, a separate pool and a chapel. At the outdoor swimming pool with bar, a mini golf course and a playground for children line the main avenue that runs through the park. The hotel also offers babysitting, which allows time for adults to enjoy activities together. Guests can take trips with the paddle boats on a lake in the park, play billiards and tennis or rent bicycles to discover the hot springs nearby. More tours and excursions can be booked at the hotel. In the vicinity there is a golf course and welcoming bars.

The Pedras Salgadas Spa & Nature Park is located in the district of Vila Real, which is known for its healing mountain springs. About half-an-hour from Vila Real and Chaves, it enjoys a quiet location in the Pedras Salgadas Park covering an area of 20 hectares. The nearest town is called Bornes de Aguiar and Porto can be reached by car in approximately 70 minutes. The international airport and the train stations of Porto-São Bento and Porto Campanhã are located there.
