Hotel description
The Parador de Argómaniz is a romantic hotel set in a very beautiful natural stone palace at the heart of the Basque country in Northern Spain. It is situated in a tiny village with not many more than five streets, between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Pamplona. Perfectly suited for those who have a desire for rural, village life and natural surroundings.
The Parador de Argómaniz
The impressive renaissance palace, which today houses the historic hotel Parador de Argómaniz, is situated at a slightly raised level in the center of the village of Argómaniz. All around the village an undisturbed conservation area extends in all directions. The views from the Parador sweep over the Álava province, the Gorbea mountain range and the Ullibarri Gamboa marshes.
The atmosphere
From the inside, just like from the outside, the Parador de Argómaniz stands out for its great historical ambiance. Everything has been skillfully restored and well cared for. Floors made from stoneware tiles or wooden parquet are combined with sometimes historic, sometimes modern furniture. The raw charm of the exposed walls and wood-beamed ceilings gives the majestic rooms at this romantic hotel in the Basque country its unique character.
The rooms
The 53 guest rooms at the Parador de Argómaniz have also been historically and romantically furnished. Well-maintained historic furniture, like large double beds, restored commodes and gleaming parquet floors, determine the style here. In the sitting area you can make yourself comfy in a cozy padded armchair. All the rooms at this historic hotel in the Basque country have a mini bar, safe, telephone and TV. The rooms don’t have air conditioning but that’s not a problem as the rooms can be shaded from the sun and, thanks to the thick stone walls, remain pleasantly cool even in summer.
The restaurant
Ever heard of Perretxikos? These Basque country mushrooms can be tried at the restaurant of the Parador de Argómaniz, as can lots of other tasty traditional dishes of the Basque country. Accompaniments include various vegetable dishes, snails and the typical dessert Goxua (cream cake). Whilst dining it’s hard to keep your eyes from wandering upwards – meals are served under a beautiful, dream-like wood-beamed ceiling.
