This small historic property with its charming and perfectly restored farm cottage is a great place to stay for travelers who are looking for something different. What used to be a typical Puglia farmhouse has been lovingly transformed into a hotel by its present owner Theo and his family. It is situated around a 10-minute drive from Ostuni in a rural setting. Around the grounds extend endless olive groves. In the idyllic garden of the property you can while away sunny days by the really beautiful pool that also has one shallow end ideal for kids.
Historic hotel: Traditional Pulia farmhouse
A masseria is the local name given to a fortified farmhouse in the Puglia region. This particularly beautiful example was originally built in the 17th century. The unique architectural mix allows each of the different eras and construction methods to tell their own story.
Romantic hotel: Romance in a Trullo
The whole of this country house hotel is made of local stone. During the restoration careful attention was taken to follow ancient handicraft traditions. And this is why all of the 18 rooms boast a wonderful romantic character, whether you are looking for a room in a cozy "Trullo" (small round hut with a stone roof) or in the old main building. The whitewashed stone together with handmade solid wood furniture creates a fairytale atmosphere, both inside and out.
Country hotel: Rural character & rustic atmosphere
If you want to spend a few days relaxing in the Italian countryside, you’re in luck at the Masseria Cervarolo. Despite the excellent amenities in the guest rooms (safe, television, radio, internet and air conditioning), the rural character of the area permeates all rooms at the hotel. Wherever you look you’ll spot old handiwork in the form of ceramic lamps, hand-stitched bedspreads and beautiful handcrafted stone wash basins. Many of the features hark back to the days when the farm was still in operation. Even the old farm’s chapel has been restored and can still be visited.
Food & drink: Puglia cuisine and cooking classes
The cuisine at the Masseria Cervarolo also adopts the rural lifestyle. Both at breakfast and in the restaurant the dishes focus on Puglia specialties and staples. In summer meals are served on the covered terrace by the pool; in the winter in the rustic dining room by the fireplace. If you like you can also arrange to attend a cookery class with the hotel chef. There is also a small, very romantic bar.
Sports & leisure: Pool in the garden and mountain bike rental
All around the hotel some stunning scenery waits to be explored. Some of most beautiful places can only be reached on foot or by bike via narrow paths and cattle trails. The hotel are happy to help you with the planning and also provides mountain bikes. In the hotel itself there is a table tennis room. The highlight is the beautiful swimming pool with a shallow area perfect for children.

The Masseria Cervarolo is situated 5km outside of Ostuni in a rural, beautiful location. As well as Ostuni it’s also worth visiting the neighboring towns of Locarotondo, Martina Franca and Cisternino for sightseeing and food. The nearest beach is about a 20-minute drive away.
