The Hotel La Posta Vecchia is located in a beautiful 16th-century villa, approximately 40 km from the city center of Rome and 25 km from Rome’s international airport. In the past, the property belonged to the American billionaire Jean Paul Getty, who once purchased it from Prince Odescalchi, whose estate is located right next door. The restoration of the complex took a total of 5 years, and during the work, the ruins of two villas from the ancient Roman period were discovered on the grounds. Jean Paul Getty had the mosaics and artifacts found there carefully restored and opened a small museum, which can now be visited by hotel guests and visitors at Hotel La Posta Veccia. Prof. Federico Zeri assisted Jean Paul Getty with the design of the building and the selection of furnishings. In 1990, the estate was transformed into a luxurious hotel, and today hotel guests can fully enjoy the charm of the property.
Restaurant
The gourmet restaurant "The Cesar" offers excellent Mediterranean cuisine, which was awarded a Michelin star in December 2007. Fresh, seasonal ingredients from the restaurant’s own herb garden form the basis of authentic and imaginative creations such as the “Artichoke Menu” or the “Spring Menu.” Anyone who would like to recreate these culinary experiences at home can learn how to do so in the cooking classes offered.
