The Relais Montemarino is situated in a restored farmhouse from the 19th century. During the restoration historic elements were harmoniously combined with modern comforts and great attention was paid to ensuring that each of its 4 eras all came across in the final construction. The main part of the building is over 200 years old, and the stone and wooden beams are characteristic of this time. After the northern part was formed with its arches and columns built out of brick, then the east part was developed with its basement with wood store. Finally the former owners, presumably around the start of the 20th century, added a colonnade and an attic. As the breakfast room is also the former porch of the drying shed it is located across the street from the main building. In the courtyard, a large horse chestnut tree stands tall as a testament to the long history of the land. Guests interested in history can take further excursions to medieval castles around Piedmont.

In the morning a rich buffet is served in the breakfast room, alongside a far-reaching view across the Alps and the Monviso. The friendly staff serve local specialities such as Piedmont hazelnut cake; there are also jams, beekeepers honey as well as various kinds of cheese and sausage specialities from the region and a coffee bar. Around the clock, the staff can prepare an aperitivo on request; typical in Italy, this is usually an alcoholic drink accompanied by snacks.

The heated indoor swimming pool with its large panoramic windows invites swimmers to enjoy a few gentle laps. There is also a small sauna. Nearby you can enjoy many sports activities out in the fresh air for example, cycling, mountain biking, horseback riding or golf. The nearby old town of Alba is well worth a visit. Also many events take place here under the medieval towers such as the Wine Festival, the Truffle Market or even a Donkey Race. An interesting experience is the tour to learn how a truffle hunter, the "Trifolao", tracks down the coveted "white truffle". Tastings of wines from the surrounding area such as the Barolo or Barbaresco are available in local wine shops or directly from the growers. For a day trip with a historical theme there are numerous medieval castles in the Piedmont area such as Roddi Grinzane and Serralunga d’Alba. The hotel can arrange guided tours and hot air balloon rides on request.
