Hotel description
Leisure & sport: Fitness with a view
Sporty guests can make full use of the free access to a modern fitness room with views over the city on the 6th floor.
The Hotel Teatro is a real find for culture vultures. But even if you’re simply looking for an original atmosphere and a central location, you’ll love it here. It was originally opened as a theater in 1859. In 2010, the grand building which was devastated by a fire at the end of the 19th century was converted into a hotel. But the original purpose of the building has not been forgotten: The rooms are decorated with historical props and the corridors feature stage lighting. Gold, bronze, leather and elegant wood bathed in beautiful low lighting creates the perfect backdrop. The restaurant on the top floor and the elegant bar are both inspired by the world of the stage.
City hotel: Prime location and contemporary service
For a short or extended city break to Porto, the Theatro is ideal, especially for its prime location. Many attractions are within walking distance. When you check in you’ll receive a map with the main attractions marked. If you have questions or need some help with planning your activities, the friendly service team are always on hand.
Design hotel: Clear the stage for elegant design
The interior design from Nini Andrade Silva is a complete homage to the elegant and sophisticated atmosphere of the theater. Dramatically shaped wooden furniture and well-polished bronze in low-lit rooms create a unique atmosphere. This applies to both the public areas, the rooms and even the bathrooms, where freestanding bathtubs and extravagantly shaped fixtures dominate the look.
Food & drink: Fine dining & chic atmosphere
The day starts with a nicely laid-out breakfast. The emphasis is on the quality of the items, including many organic products, rather than the range of options. For lunch and dinner visit the hotel restaurant Palco. One of the most beautiful spaces at the Hotel Teatro is the Bar Plateia. Here you can enjoy a nightcap on a leather-upholstered armchair surrounded by interesting theater props.
Location: Central but quiet
The Hotel Teatro has a really central location in the city center of Porto, yet still offers pleasantly quiet rooms. São Bento train station is just 200 meters away, as is the nearest underground station. Within just 500m of the door you’ll find a range of bars, cafes and restaurants. Head to the Via Catarina shopping mall (500m) if you’re looking for retail therapy.
