Hotel description
The Hacienda Zorita follows the vision of a every globetrotter who is both a wine connoisseur and a lover of good food. Together they create a place of rest within a former monastery, which is imbued with plenty of spirit. The 40 spacious suites and villas of the Hacienda feature historic works of art, modern comforts and garden terraces. The Zorita’s kitchen is run by star chef Víctor Gutiérrez, who celebrates Slow Food and serves produce direct from the hotel’s own farm.
Historic Hotel: In the footsteps of Columbus
Inspiration for the founding of the Hacienda Zorita was Christopher Columbus, who was once a guest at this stately building in the 15th century, and with his relentless spirit of discovery inspired the founders of the hotel. The medieval estate of Hacienda, which dates from the 13th century, is still 200 years older than Columbus himself. The carefully thought-out interiors with contemporary luxury furniture, historic works of art and works by local artists brings the heritage of the old country house to the fore. In some rooms, the stone walls of the building are exposed and create a Mediterranean flair along with burnt tiles.
Winery Hotel: Fine wines from their own cultivation
In the middle of the fertile valley of the Duero, the Hacienda Zorita is situated on the river of Tormes. In the nearby vineyards, the hotel maintains a plot with its own wine production. The guests can take part in wine tastings here. Also, there is a large wine cellar open to visitors at the Hacienda Zorita, which stores numerous treasures from the Valley Duero, Rioja and all over the world. The hotel recommends that you register beforehand. For a day trip another winery nearby is within easy reach. Directly on a well-known winery route, the Hacienda is a good starting point for culinary jaunts.
