The 4 star Angsana Ihuru Resort - featuring 45 beach villas, the Riveli restaurant and an exclusive spa - is a haven for rest, relaxation and diving. This luxurious paradise is completely surrounded by the vastness of the turquoise blue Indian Ocean. It is just 20 minutes by speedboat from Malé and has one of the best house reefs in the Maldives.
Sports Hotel: Diving, snorkelling and swimming
Angsana Ihuru is the only resort on the small island of Ihuru and is committed to sustainable tourism. The resorts’ house reef is pristine and rich in biodiversity. This fascinating underwater world is home to colourful corals, sharks, rays and turtles. There is even Manta Point, where these majestic rays can be spotted during the south-west monsoon. Guests can bathe and snorkel to their heart’s content in the shallow lagoon, where the water is crystal-clear and warm. The sea on the west side of the island is rougher, with waves and surf. The resort’s water sports centre offers diving courses and rents varied equipment; windsurfing, sailing, wakeboarding and fishing are all possible. There is also a beach volleyball court.
Romantic Hotel: Wedding service and romantic touches
Upon request, the rooms can be decorated with rose petals and supplied with champagne. This idyllic and secluded resort with an intimate atmosphere is ideal for honeymooners and bridal couples. Angsana Ihuru Resort offers special wedding venues, including ceremonies on a sandbar or underwater. The hotel can plan entire wedding celebrations, whether directly with guests or in close co-operation. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets contribute to the romantic atmosphere. There are also special offers for honeymooners.
Sport & Leisure: Award-winning spa, water sports and sailing tours
A small but perfectly formed spa is the heart of the resort. The holistic spa is a relaxing oasis that spoils guests with massages and beauty treatments. Full body and aromatherapy massages are offered in combination with facial treatments in 8 pavilions. The emphasis is on holistic therapies, to bring body, mind and spirit into harmony. For guests seeking more active pursuits, diving safaris and reef excursions are offered. In addition, banana boat and sea fishing trips can be arranged for a fee. Tours to the capital Malé are also possible. Kayaking and catamaran tours and excursions to the neighbouring island of Vabbinfaru are included in the room rate.
Beach Hotel: Views out over the vast Indian Ocean
The 45 thatched, comfortably furnished beach villas are available in two categories: Beachfront Villa and Beachfront Jet Pool Villa. All of the villas feature lovely views of the sea and the palm-dotted Atoll; Ihuru means "old palm trees" in the Maldivian language Dhivehi. The Beachfront Villas include a porch with a seating area and outdoor bathroom, as well as a private garden and outdoor shower. All villas are furnished with high quality wooden furniture and rich fabrics in tasteful, fresh colours. There is a discreet, twice-daily cleaning service and a bottle of mineral water is provided for free every day. The villas all feature king-size beds, a safe, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi. They can sleep up to 4 people, with space for 2 extra beds. The Beachfront Jet Pool Villas are 10 square metres larger and include a private outdoor jet pool.
Location: Secluded island with beautiful coral gardens not far from Malé
The Angsana Ihuru Resort is located on the uninhabited island of Ihuru in North Malé Atoll and is surrounded by one of the best preserved coral reefs in the Maldives. There are panoramic views over the turquoise blue Indian Ocean from the wooden terrace or garden of your private beach villa. Angsana Ihuru is just 20 minutes by speedboat from Malé, where the international airport is located. The hotel offers chargeable airport transfers.
Eating & Drinking: Sea views, fresh fruit and delicious cocktails
The room rate includes a rich à la carte or buffet breakfast. Full board can also be booked with meals taken à la carte or buffet. All meals and drinks are included in this rate, with the exception of the minibar and cocktails. The breakfast is cooked fresh every morning in front of guests, and includes various fruits, eggs cooked to order and freshly squeezed juices. Dinner at the Riveli beach restaurant - complete with romantic sea views - is served four times a week à la carte (in 4 courses, with 2 menus to choose from) and three times a week in buffet form. Asian-Maldivian-Mediterranean fusion cuisine, with both meat and fish dishes, dominates. Vegetarian dishes are also offered. Located directly on the water, the Velaavani Bar is the perfect place to end the day with a good glass of wine or a cocktail and snacks.
What else?: Cooking school and marine biology stations
As well as watching cooking demonstrations, guests can participate in Maldivian cooking classes. On the small atoll and neighbouring island there are also marine stations, which undertake biological research to observe and conserve the ecological balance of the underwater world.
