The Casa Beleza Do Sul is located in the old town centre of Tavira, directly in front of the old covered market on the banks of the Rio Gilão. As a result of its makeover by its architect owner Paola, a specialist in historical building renovation, it has been painstakingly restored by hand using only traditional techniques, ecological materials and light touches to the original design. This has allowed the natural beauty of the house to be maintained, while giving the building a new lease of life, and it has now been divided into 4 large and airy apartments. Other features include a peaceful inner courtyard and a wonderful roof terrace, with views of the river and Tavira’s historic centre.
A small hotel: intimate atmosphere and spacious rooms
The Casa Beleza Do Sul is perfect for guests who prefer the more personalised service of a small hotel, but also enjoy their own space to relax. The small number of rooms means that the hotel is always peaceful, but the 4 rooms are also fabulously large, with the smallest being a comfortable Studio with an integrated living area. The other 3 rooms are full-sized apartments with separate sleeping and living areas. Each room has a kitchen unit and a supermarket can be found just down the road.
Bed and Breakfast: delicious breakfast baskets and old town restaurants
The Casa Beleza Do Sul offers only a B&B service and has no in-house restaurant. It is possible to pre-order freshly packed breakfast baskets to be delivered to the apartments, while small meals can also be prepared easily in the apartments’ individual kitchens. There is also a wide selection of restaurants and bars nearby serving delicious Atlantic cuisine in Tavira’s Old Town centre.
Historical: 19th century architecture with modern furnishings
It is hardly a surprise that the owner invested so much time and energy into retaining the original beauty of the building. The house is a treasure trove of traditional design, with artistically painted tiles as well as elaborate ornaments, old plank flooring and colourful mosaics. Particularly spectacular are the huge thatch and wood roof structures in the Blue Suite and the upper section of the Duplex Suite.
Sport and Leisure: discover Portuguese history and breath-taking beaches
Tavira is a typical Portuguese coastal town, with numerous historical places of interest and a long fishing tradition. The city’s Old Town is right on the doorstep of the Casa, and ferries to the offshore, car-free sand dune ‘Ilha de Tavira’ can be reached in two minutes by foot. A drive to the kilometre-long beaches of Manta Rota is also unmissable for guests with cars. There is also a range of golf courses, and local companies offer a range of water sports, boat tours, bird watching, walking tours and mountain bike tours.

The Casa Beleza Do Sul is situated in the historical centre of Tavira, just a few steps away from the bank of the Rio Gilão. A stunning view of the city’s roofs and winding streets can be seen from the house’s roof terrace. The city itself is just a 45-minute drive from Faro airport, 1.5 hours from Seville and 3 hours from Lisbon. Travel to these destinations is also possible by bus or train, and airport pick-up and drop-off can be arranged with the hotel.
