Hotel description
Above all, what makes this Istanbul hotel stand out is its design: full of ideas, colorful and trendy, but not at all cold – on the contrary, comfortably warm in its choice of colors and materials. In total, 18 rooms are available at the SuB Karakoy, including single, double, and family rooms. What’s more, it’s expressly gay and lesbian friendly, and located very centrally on the European side of the city. The finishing touch: a friendly service team that’s always eager to help, available around the clock.
City Hotel: Good location & top service
Between its location and its unconventional urban atmosphere, the SuB Karakoy is a great base camp for exploring this lively Turkish metropolis. Lots of sights are reachable on foot, including the Beyoğlu nightlife, several museums, the Galata tower and various piers for boat tours on the Bosporus. Other opportunities are accessible by a short tram ride; a stop is just around the corner. With the tram, guests can travel over the Galata bridge into the Sultanahmet district, which includes the Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque. When it comes to planning, the friendly staff is happy to give advice and assistance to hotel guests. Free wireless is available throughout the entire building.
Design: Colorful combinations & trendy atmosphere
The design of the SuB Karakoy reflects the cultural richness of Istanbul in its own unique way, not limiting itself to any particular style. Just like in the city itself, the most diverse elements mix together into a surprisingly harmonious junction of contrasting styles, time periods and materials. In the breakfast room, no chair is like any other, but a single glance is enough to see that they all belong together. In the bedrooms, smooth shiny synthetic beds stand on naturally grained wood floors. Rough wood blocks serve as nightstands: on one, a nostalgic telephone, on the other an iPod dock. Oriental stucco walls and fashionable stone-tiled bathrooms round off the look. Despite all these contrasts, everything goes very well together, resulting in a very welcoming living atmosphere.
Food & Drink: Turkish breakfast and complimentary hot drinks
Each day begins with a highlight: a huge first-class Turkish breakfast offering something for everyone. Until 11 in the morning, countless local specialties are served, including croissants, sweet pastries, dried fruits and marmalade, as well as hearty sausages, regional cheeses and olives. The hotel doesn’t run its own restaurant; however, the options in the neighborhood are more than sufficient. Turkish coffee and tea are available all day long at no cost for guests.
Location: In Karaköy near the Galata bridge
The hotel is situated on a peaceful side street in the port district Karaköy, in the Beyoğlu region, close to the Galata bridge. The bridge crosses over the Golden Horn, connecting the newer parts of Istanbul with the peninsula containing the historical city center.
