The owners have taken great care in restoring and furnishing the former convent, with the aim of making this historic place as pleasant as possible for their guests. The monastery was built on a miraculous site: According to legend, the Apostle Paul rested here on his way to Rome. As there was no water for his baptism, a hidden spring opened up – the aquae ortus.

      In the historic monastic village there are now 25 apartments, all individually designed and distributed throughout the village, rustic but chic, with wooden beams and stone tiles, and contemporary interiors, so that the rooms combine the charm of antiquity with modern comforts, the rooms have been deliberately kept simple and sober to preserve the character of the place

      Massive stone walls, terracotta tiles and small windows characterise the fortress-like structure built around a large bricked courtyard, the castle was originally built as a monastery for the Abbey of St Peter Acquaeortus, the monastery was first mentioned in 1000 AD, which over time grew into a complete village of several interlocking houses, the castle has been lovingly and carefully restored with great attention to detail

      Situated on a hill in the picturesque Umbrian countryside, close to the border with Tuscany, the hotel is surrounded by woods and meadows, not far from olive groves, ideal for hikers and nature lovers; the garden is planted with Mediterranean plants, fruit trees and herbs typical of the region
