Hotel description
Picturesquely situated on a hill above a bend in the River Tagus, this former noble estate constructed in pale stone offers unbeatable views of the famous Cathedral of Toledo and the Moorish Alcázar. Inside, the Parador’s romantic interior features plenty of wood and natural stone. The spacious guest rooms exude traditional charm, with rustic wooden beams, high ceilings, cosy four-poster beds and warm, friendly colours. Most of the rooms and suites enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Toledo, as does the outdoor pool in the large garden.
Paradores: Manor house in the heart of Spain
Toledo is located in central Spain and unites Jewish, Christian and Moorish culture within its walls. The historic centre of the city, rich in artistic heritage, stands directly opposite the Parador de Toledo. ’Paradores’ are historic buildings, castles, estates or former manor houses in prominent locations that have been converted into luxury hotels. They are usually located in rural areas and offer, alongside historical ambience, superb panoramic views of their natural surroundings or city.
4 Star Hotel: Modern comforts amid a historical ambience
The 78 modern twin, standard double and single rooms and suites feature delightfully harmonious colours, solid wood furniture and fine fabrics. The Mudéjar and Castilian style and decorative elements of the former country house have been retained, as well as the original wooden beams. All rooms have a balcony or terrace. The stylish ’Greco’, ’Juderia’ and ’Regio’ meeting rooms are available for small and medium-sized events or meetings, and are equipped with technical equipment for presentations and conferences.
Romantic Hotel: Bright natural stone and the twinkling lights of Toledo
The hotel was built entirely in pale stone and is located atop Cerro del Emperador (conqueror’s hill), from where it enjoys fantastic views over the enchanting city of Toledo. The large terrace is the perfect place to wind down at the end of the day with a glass of wine, while enjoying the view. Guests can also relax while peering down over the ’city of three cultures’ from the spacious landscaped garden, with its outdoor pool and sun terrace. The Parador de Toledo is especially popular as a retreat for couples who love to combine history and romance.
Eating & Drinking: Continental breakfast and Castilian specialties
The breakfast buffet is served in the hotel’s restaurant between 07.30 and 10.30 on weekdays and between 08.00 and 11.00 on weekends and public holidays. On request, it can also be served in guests’ rooms. During the day, the cafeteria offers light snacks and drinks. The restaurant serves à la carte regional specialities, such as braised partridge, roast lamb or sweets typical to Toledo, such as honey or cheese ice cream and marzipan. Wines from La Mancha complement the menu. The Parador’s intimate cocktail bar, next to the spacious terrace with panoramic views, is the perfect spot for relaxing with a drink.
Sport & Leisure: Swimming, hiking and sightseeing
In the summer, guests can swim as many lengths as they desire in the romantic country mansion’s large outdoor pool. Nature lovers will enjoy hiking in the mountains of Toledo. However, most guests come to explore the old imperial city of Toledo, with its many churches, mosques, synagogues and museums. Among the must-see attractions are the birthplace of the famous painter El Greco and the striking Puerta de Bisagra Nueva and Puerta del Sol city gates. In addition to the magnificent Cathedral of Toledo, the huge monastery of San Juan de los Reyes stands out among the religious buildings dotted throughout this monumental city.
Location: High above the city and river
Public buses run from the hotel to the centre of Toledo, around 3km away. There is a train station in the city itself. It is around 70km to Madrid along the A 42 highway. Aranjuez, with its lovely royal palace and the pleasure palace of Casa del Labrador, is located around 50km away.
