The concept of this southern Spanish Parador is unique: culture-loving travelers can enjoy a really comfortable stay in an impressive new-build with direct access to archaeological excavations of Christian, Muslim and Jewish settlements. The spacious interiors are modern but still reminiscent of the architecture of a castle or fortress. With columns, marble, large chandelier-style lighting and rough stone walls, the interior design blends in beautifully with its historic setting. The hotel has a total of 76 guest rooms plus a restaurant serving regional cuisine and a small spa with a glass roof over the swimming pool.

From its elevated position, the Parador de Lorca offers stunning views over the arid landscape of the Murcia region. In its spacious outdoor areas with ample seating, guests can gaze out for miles over the hills and valleys of the area. Hikers will love the fantastic trails through the several protected natural areas nearby including the basin of the Rio Luchena or the Sierra del Gigante.

This hotel offers all the best bits of a traditional Spanish Parador, which are famous for their connection to history and regional culture. It has been built directly into the ruins of the Castillo de Lorca (Lorca Castle), a listed building since the 1930s. The usual professional service and typical Spanish cuisine complete the picture.
Historic: Impressive new building in medieval ruins
Within the hotel walls and around the building you can explore ruins, excavations and precious items which were discovered during the construction of the hotel. Some of the most interesting finds include the early medieval remains of Islamic buildings, a synagogue in the Jewish quarter of the fortress and a Jewish public bath.
Leisure & sport: Wellness, hiking and archeology
Guests in need of relaxation will love the ultra-modern spa area at the Parador de Lorca. It has three massage and treatment rooms, several hot tubs, a steam room, mist shower and an indoor pool with a glass roof and glass wall offering panoramic views. If you’re interested in hiking through the diverse countryside of Murcia, the hotel will see to your every need, including offering you packages that feature guided hikes. But if you’re a budding archaeologist then a stay here is ideal. Large parts of the castle and some of the towers can be visited and accompanied by an audio guide. There are archaeological sites from different periods and civilizations ranging from the 10th to the 19th century.
