At the heart of the luxury hotel is the huge garden, which bears the nickname „Botanical Cathedral of Lanzarote“, because of its 300 plant species from around the world. The large rock pool area provides for relaxation and wellbeing, as well as the 3 restaurants, where Mediterranean and international haute cuisine and show cooking await.. Rest and relaxation are paramount in this adults-only hotel. The hotel is therefore only open to guests aged 15 and over.
Beach: Ocean location and a wide range of water sports
The hotel is located directly on the Atlantic Ocean and offers access to the white sandy beaches of Las Cucharas and Los Charcos, which provide ideal conditions for swimming, wind surfing, snorkeling, diving and other water sports. The seaside promenade is lined with restaurants, shops and supermarkets. For swimming, the huge lagoon-style pool area of the hotel, with its several islands and a snack bar, is perfect.

The 212 bright rooms, 47 elegant suites and 10 exclusive villas are characterized by their elegant design in pure white and warm terracotta. Green marble, wrought iron furniture and doors made of African wood and cabinets accent the design. The stepped architecture of the hotel allows for plenty of natural light in the rooms, which overlook the huge pool landscape and the lush tropical garden. Designed by the renowned architect Fernando Higueras, the hotel itself is a work of art. The interiors of the hotel are complemented by works of contemporary Spanish artists like Pepe Dámaso and César Manrique.

For active guests, the Meliá Salinas offers a wide range of sports. The on-site water sports centre offers courses in surfing, windsurfing, scuba diving and other water sports, as well as equipment for rent. Designed like a lagoon, the heated seawater swimming pool area is open for swimming, while 3 tennis courts and other sport facilities offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a number of different sports. For the daily workout, there is a well equipped fitness centre, and a golf course is located nearby.

At noon, the Esencia Canaria restaurant opens its doors, which serves traditional Canarian cuisine in a rustic atmosphere, overlooking the sea. Here, guests can enjoy multi-faceted variations of the Spanish classic paella, as well as fresh fish from the region. The a-la-carte menu is complemented by a wide selection of fine Spanish wine. In the middle of the landscaped grounds, with their splashing fountains and artwork by well-known artists, the Marea restaurant serves Mediterranean and international cuisine in the evening. The Pool Bar Ô Grille, located in the pool area of the hotel, provides in-between snacks. The evening meeting place is the ONIX Lounge, located in the tropical garden, where an entertainment programme featuring music, dance and acrobatics entertains guests.
Sport & leisure: diverse activities, barren volcanic landscapes and bizarre cave systems
Sporting activities range from water sports of all kinds, such as windsurfing, scuba diving and surfing, to miniature golf, to other sports such as basketball, handball, volleyball and tennis. In the lounge of the hotel you can play darts or billiards. In addition, the Meliá Salinas offers a variety of courses ranging from water sport courses to dance classes, yoga, jewellery workshops and courses in Sangria-making. 5 Km away is a well-kept 18-hole golf course called Costa Teguise Golf. Guests can relax in the 1,800 m² heated seawater swimming pool, the private Level Pool, or the sprawling tropical garden landscape. The hotel is also an ideal starting point to explore the natural beauty of Lanzarote. 32 Km away, the volcanic landscapes of Timanfaya National Park are a worthwhile destination. 25 km to the north,:two bizarre cave formations can be found: Cueva de los Verdes and Los Jameos del Agua. The capital of Arrecife, the cultural and economic centre of the island, can be reached by car within 15 minutes. Also worth a trip is the former island capital of Teguise, with its medieval churches, monasteries and squares. Several times a day, a bus from Costa Teguise runs there.
