Hotel description
This former palace was completely renovated in 2010, and the historic building, which includes a large courtyard and beautiful garden, is an oasis of tranquillity amid the bustling medina. Meanwhile, the rooftop terrace offers magnificent views of the old city and the mountains beyond. All rooms are modern and decorated in Moorish style. In addition, guests can enjoy typical Moroccan specialties in the "Palais Amani" restaurant and relax in the hotel’s own luxury hammam.
Riad Hotel: Moorish style and modern comfort
All 14 rooms of the former palace are decorated in traditional Moroccan style. Mosaic tiles line the floors and walls, while stained glass windows add to the atmosphere, along with high quality furnishings of wood, stone and embroidered Egyptian fabrics. As is typical of a Moroccan riad, the hotel also features a generous courtyard, complete with a rose-shaped fountain, orange trees, jasmine flowers and a terrace with sun loungers.
5 Star Hotel: Luxurious suites, spa and roof terrace bar
All 14 rooms are fully air-conditioned and offer modern conveniences including an iPod docking station, private sound system, free WiFi, safe, large bathroom with luxury toiletries and hairdryer. There are six luxury rooms available, as well as junior, mezzanine and luxury suites. The mezzanine suites exude a cosy and intimate atmosphere over two levels. With their high ceilings, the luxury suites underscore the character of the riad. In addition, there are the Exceptional suites, including the Grand Suite, which features spectacular views of the garden and mountains beyond. This suite extends over almost the entire south wing of the riad and includes a lounge, large bathroom and two dressing rooms. The Misriah apartments feature two suites and a private roof terrace. The hotel offers opportunities for luxurious relaxation with its exclusive spa. Socialising and entertainment can be enjoyed over a fine drink in the airy rooftop bar or the hotel lounge.
City Hotel: An oasis of calm in the Fes medina
The Palais Amani riad is a typical city hotel. Guests are constantly amazed to find such a magnificent palace with a large garden and beautiful sun terrace amid the narrow, winding streets of the old town. The central location allows guests to dive directly from the hotel into the bustling Fes medina, with its souks, palaces, mosques and ancient city gates. Fes is one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Despite its central location, guests enjoy a peaceful atmosphere thanks to the riad’s thick walls and soundproof windows.
Eating & Drinking: Moroccan delicacies
The breakfast buffet consists of typical Moroccan dishes, though a continental breakfast can be served at an additional cost. Guests can choose to breakfast either in the "Palais Amani" restaurant, on the terrace overlooking the garden, or in their rooms. The restaurant is decorated in blue and white tile mosaics and is also open to non-guests. The focus is on traditional Moroccan dishes prepared from fresh ingredients, preferably from local and organic farms, supplemented by light French cuisine. For hotel guests, brunch, lunch and dinner are served here. Dinner consists of a traditional three-course menu, though the chef of the house can also take special requirements into account, and it can also be eaten à la carte. Before or after dinner, the rooftop bar is a perfect place to enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the former winter garden. Tapas can be ordered during the day on the terrace, in the garden and at the bar. Snacks and light meals are also served between 12.00 and 22.00 in the room.
Sport & Leisure: The Spa Amani, a feast for the senses
Extravagant relaxation is offered at the hotel’s Royal Haman and ritual hamam baths, with separate exfoliating rooms, showers and rest areas. Massages (full body, Far East, herbal) and treatments with the precious Moroccan Argan oil bring your body and soul into balance and strengthen your well-being. In summer and autumn the treatments are offered in the pergola on the roof, with views over the city. The beauty salon also offers special facials, manicures and pedicures. Near the hotel there is bicycle hire, horse riding stables, a golf course and possibilities for hiking. Fes also has a nightlife quarter with bars, shops, museums and galleries. Crafts and oriental markets can be found in the medina.
Location: Between desert and Atlas Mountains
Fes is located in the north of Morocco and is the oldest of the country’s four imperial cities. The medina of Fes is the largest in Africa and its origins date back to the year 859. For a long time the medina was the spiritual centre of the country, and here still today the public life of the city is played out. Among the sights very close to the hotel are the 18th century Fondouk-el-Nejjarine, which now houses a wood carving museum, the University of al-Qarawiyyin and the Medersa Bou Inania.
What esle?: Honeymoon and cooking courses
For honeymooners, the hotel offers special romantic packages. Lovers of Moroccan food can learn about diverse local cuisine and its secrets during a cooking course.
