The cozy and familiar nature hotel scores above all with its courteous service. In the restaurant, the chef cooks himself: the fresh regional cuisine tastes great and the breakfast buffet is rich. The wellness area is small but nice and the massages by the spa manager - simply heavenly.

Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland region is without doubt one of the most popular holiday spots in Switzerland. Both in the summer and the winter, it can get pretty busy here. One of the big plus points of the SALZANO is its secluded location just outside the town. The hotel is also ideal for golfers with the Golf Club Interlaken-Unterseen just 500m away. This traditional hotel itself boasts really cozy rooms, a small but lovely spa area and an excellent level of service. If you book a front-facing room you get an added bonus too – spectacular views over the Eiger mountain.

Golf hotel: 18-hole course within walking distance

From the door of the SALZANO it’s just a short stroll to the local golf course. It’s an 18-hole course (72 par) that’s been beautifully integrated into the surrounding landscape, was opened over 50 years ago, and was completely revamped between 2003 and 2005 by the Scottish golf architect John Chilver-Stainer. Lots of natural streams criss-cross this picturesque course, which features lots of old trees and native vegetation. Now and again you’ll stop at some spots that boast fantastic views of the mountaintops. At the hotel reception you can book tee-off times for 9 or 18 holes, use of the driving range and even some coaching sessions.

Country hotel: Swiss chalet in an idyllic location

The SALZANO is housed in a typical Swiss alpine chalet with wooden balconies and window boxes brimming with colorful flowers. A large garden stretches around the hotel boasting views over the rural landscape with its picturesque mountain backdrop. Inside you’ll find a stylish, contemporary alpine look with lots of light wood used. For the best views, book a front-facing room which has spectacular vistas over the famous Eiger mountain.

Food & Drink: Delicious food around the clock

The SALZANO creates refined dishes using long-forgotten, natural ingredients to familiarize guests with local alpine cuisine. The menus take guests on a foray through the woods and meadows. The basis for the unusual and refined dishes are exceptional and natural products such as wood, Swiss pine extracts, pine needle essence or fresh wild herbs and wildflowers from the forest in the immediate vicinity. The dishes, each one a work of art, are a surprise to the palate. The SALZANO is also the perfect place for couples who want to celebrate their love with a romantic dinner or get-together.

Leisure & sport: Spa, hiking & skiing

For an extra dose of relaxation, visit the hotel’s own spa, which is housed in a separate garden house. Spa lovers will delight at the herbal steam bath, Finnish panoramic-view sauna and bio-sauna made from Swiss pine wood. There is also a treatment room where you can enjoy individually booked massages, beauty treatments and romantic spa packages for two. In the summer there are countless walks you can take, right from the hotel itself: short circular walks that the children will manage too, or day-long mountain hikes. In the winter you can take the free ski shuttle from Interlaken to the slopes of three different ski areas (Mürren-Schilthorn, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen and Grindelwald First).

The SALZANO has a quiet, villagey setting halfway between Interlaken and Lake Thun. Just a short stroll away is the local golf course. It’s a 20-30 minute (around 2km) walk into the center of Interlaken. Some of the rooms and the garden offer spectacular views over the famous Eiger Nordwand mountain.
