In the 1920s, Slovenian painter Rudolf Marčič opened his "Pension Kalamota" with its art school - soon to become a center of attraction for artists, painters, composers and writers from all over the world. Why this place could inspire so many artists, one recognizes immediately. The crystal-clear sea, the deep green of the trees, the roughness of the rocks and the lapping of the waves are a sight to behold. The small island has barely 160 inhabitants and has lost none of its charm since then.
