The 42 rooms and 11 villas of the 800-year-old Tuscan country estate are individually decorated with antiques and modern upholstered furniture. The ten bright, whitewashed 5-star hotels, loosely scattered over the sprawling estate, are complemented by two restaurants, a large fitness and wellness area, an infinity pool with panoramic views, an outdoor terrace and a large garden.

An intimate atmosphere and an individual design with luxurious facilities characterize the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco. The living rooms offer plenty of space: the suites are between 50 and 200 m², the detached villas 180-730 m². The wife of the owner personally picked out the interior fabrics, and many furnishings and fixtures were made in Milan. Each of the villas has a heated private swimming pool. Exposed beams and antiques spread historical charm, while at the same time the hotel has all the modern comforts: air conditioning, a luxurious bathroom with bath, shower and double sinks, as well as a sitting area with modern consumer electronics, an espresso machine and free Wi-Fi. Many of the rooms have a private terrace with views of the Tuscan hills. The Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco has two restaurants, a wine cellar and an infinity pool with panoramic views. It is located in a 4,500-acre garden with waterfall and olive groves, as well as a vegetable garden, designed by the landscape architect of the Vatican and home to around 150 different vegetable and herb varieties.
Winery: Renowned wine cellar, wine tasting and guided tours
Some of the best Brunello grape varieties come from the surrounding vineyards. The red wine Brunello di Montalcino, in particular, has a long tradition in the area. The 800-year-old estate of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco also produces its own wine. It features a historic wine cellar and wine tastings, as well as walks through, and participation in, the grape harvest. The grounds include many fruit orchards, vineyards and a large organic garden with many different vegetables and herbs, which are used by the cooking school, "La Canonica"and in the two restaurants.
Boutique: Individually furnished rooms and suites in historic ambience
Massimo Ferragamo, son of shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo, purchased the property in 2003 and restored it extensively for five years. The basic substance of the buildings and the roof structures were not changed, however, thus preserving the original charm. The estate resembles a small village: Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is composed of 23 suites and 9 villas. Special historic places of interest within the estate are the medieval church of St. Michele Aracangelo, the old riding stables, a wine cellar and the old castle ruins on the site. The former rectory is now home to one of the hotel’s restaurants. The bright buildings were mostly constructed out of natural materials such as stone and wood, and include antiques and custom furniture from local craftsmen.
Food & drink: breakfast à la carte and regional specialities.
A rich à la carte breakfast is served every morning. The Osteria "La Canonica", with its relaxed atmosphere, is located in the former rectory. Both national and international dishes are on the menu. The gourmet restaurant "Campo Del Drago" offers a romantic and elegant atmosphere in which to enjoy exquisite Tuscan specialities and fine local wines. In good weather you can dine on the outdoor terrace.
Sport & leisure: Large Wellness Centre and numerous sports facilities
The hotel has a heated outdoor pool with panoramic views, a modern gym, and a spa area with sauna and Turkish bath. In addition, there are many ways to become active in the fresh air. The activities on offer range from fishing and hiking to football, tennis, horse riding, swimming, cycling and archery. The hotel’s also has its own private 18-hole golf course. Only members and guests of the suites and villas are allowed on the course, which was designed by professional golfer Tom Weiskopf. Hotel guests can also take part in wine tasting in the wine cellar, or cooking at "La Canonica" Cooking School. The Osteria "La Canonica" hosts a cooking school, where holidaymakers and members alike can learn how to prepare Tuscan dishes. The cooking school´s bottega offers regional produce and wine.
Location: In the heart of Tuscany, in a natural park between vineyards and cypress avenues
The hotel is located in the middle of the Val d ’Orcia Natural Park, approximately 12 kilometres northwest of Montalcino in the province of Siena. The villas are scattered around the grounds, situated next to a forest on the outskirts of the village, over the vineyards and the castle ruins. All Villas and Suites have views of the Tuscan hills, the vineyards and the adjacent forest. The site is guarded by a security service. The nearest railway station is located 8 km away, in Buonconvento. The Grosseto private airport is about 90 km away. A heliport is located on the site itself.
