From its architecture and furnishings right down to its service concept, the Hotel Schwarzschmied is tied to tradition yet fully on trend. A new wing has been annexed onto the original chalet-style farmhouse, containing bright generous rooms, junior suites and family accommodations. Further stand double rooms, furnished in a cozy alpine style, are available in the main building. The hotel’s kitchen prepares traditional and modern dishes using meat and vegetables fresh from area farmers. The real gem of the hotel is a fitness area with individual treatments and top-class facilities.
Small hotel: Owner-run & wonderfully peaceful
For more than 30 years, the Dissertori family has run this South Tyrolian wellness hotel in Lana, south of Meran. In 2007, the capacity of the hotel grew to 30 rooms with the construction of a new residence area, but has still maintained exemplary modern comfort. Service is very personal and warm, as always a top priority. Guests are very well looked-after; the team is eager to help, whether for individual requests in the restaurant or while planning activities, in a way only possible in a small business.
Wellness: 2 pools, garden sauna and beauty treatments
A particular plus to a relaxing vacation: the modern fitness area. In the spa area there is a small indoor swimming pool (9x6m), a steam room, a fitness center with modern machines from the Technogym brand, and various massage and beauty offerings including revitalizing baths in hayflower, apple or algae extracts. In addition, there’s a sauna cabin in the garden and an outdoor pool that’s long enough to swim in (13m) as well as a heated whirlpool (35°C). Both outdoor and indoor water facilities are prepared using the Grander method (Grander water).
Food & Drink: South Tyrolian cuisine, for vegetarians as well
Each day at the Hotel Schwarzschmied starts off with a rich culinary offering. All kinds of healthy selections for an informed diet are available at the breakfast buffet (whole wheat bread, fresh pressed juice, granola and fresh corn porridge), as well as more seductive options (café latte, croissants, fried eggs with bacon, nutella and hot chocolate). Only regional and market-fresh products without additives or genetically-manipulated ingredients are served. On request, there are delicious offerings for vegetarians, diabetics and guests with various food allergies.
Sports & Leisure: Hiking among grapevines
From the hotel itself, extended hikes are available among the area’s vineries and orchards. Anyone wishing to combine idyllic nature with athletics can take advantage of the jogging paths of various lengths, or can go nordic walking with a guide. The hotel rents bikes and mountain bikes for free. Golfers can reserve a game at Lana’s 9-hole course for a reduced fee.
