This small, medieval village sits, as is typical for northern Italy, atop a hill boasting far-reaching views over a sea of olive groves and forests of oak trees. The history of the town extends right back to the time of the Etruscans who settled here even before the Romans. You’ll find an archaeological site belonging to this pre-Christian civilization very close to the hotel. The Oste del Castello Wellness & Bike Hotel itself is set in a typical house dating back to the 18th century, which has – both inside and out – been restored with the utmost attention to detail. Another of the historic remnants of the town is the underground network of vaulted cellars which are – in parts – connected via corridors. You can see some of this underground architecture in the hotel’s own cellar restaurant (Al Mastin Vecchio) and spa.
