The historic estate Chateau des Alpilles in Provence will take you on a trip backward through time right into the 19th century. The gigantic estate with the magnificent park consists of several buildings: The luxurious and authentic mansion houses the excellent restaurant, the bar and lounge with the fireplace, the reception and a part of the 21 rooms. The old farm house (cypress farm) was preserved only partially: The old walls and the beams of the roof structure can be seen at many places, but modern furniture and contemporary design dominate the building. This building houses several suites and an apartment. The old chapel completes the Provence estate. It can be rented as an autonomous vacation home.

The history of Chateau des Alpilles

Legend tells of a knight from the 13th century, who supposedly founded the estate. But the historic sources mention the manor for the first time in the 16th century. After the family Fléchon owned the estate, Charles Gailhard inherited the Provence manor in the 17th century. The name of the old farm building traces back to him: Mas de Gaillard. A century later, the family Blain bought the estate and led it into a time of glory. In 1825, Pierre-Paul Blain had an impressive mansion and a chapel built. But the wealth of the family dwindled and the estate decayed until it was bought in 1979. The new owners, Françoise Bon and her daughter Catherine, restored the 4 star hotel Chateau des Alpilles and returned the magnificence of earlier times.
