Hotel description

Bologna has one of the most beautiful and best preserved old towns in Europe. There are plenty of towers, squares, churches and palaces from various different eras for you to visit. The best place to start any sightseeing tour here is the Piazza Maggiore with its San Petronio Basilica. And it´s right here, in the very heart of the old town, that you´ll find the Art Hotel Commercianti. Some of the hotel rooms at the Commercianti directly overlook the Gothic basilica which dominates the square with its grandeur. The hotel building itself has - both inside and out - a fantastic historic feel interwoven with Italian art and nostalgia. An excellent breakfast and very friendly customer service round off any stay.
Historic hotel: Period interiors & views of San Petronio
Today´s Art Hotel Commercianti is housed in a building dating back to the 12th century, the first town hall of the city. Behind its ocher facade you´ll still today find many of its original medieval architectural elements. These mainly include the partly visible truss frame and brick archways. Some rooms even have impressive wooden beams. The highlight of some of the rooms is their views right over the San Petronio Basilica with its beautiful stained glass windows.
