Copenhagen: Wellness in Denmark’s gorgeous capital

Denmark’s capital and once Viking fishing village, Copenhagen, is known and loved for its 17th-century waterfront, cultural attractions, and world-class dining. Boasting 15 Michelin-starred restaurants, the magical Tivoli Gardens amusement park, and luxury shopping, a spa hotel in Copenhagen promises to be a dynamic yet relaxing escape into Denmark. Rent a bike and traverse the beautiful technicolor streets, or spend a day sitting in one of the massive city parks, primed for an afternoon picnic between dips in the hotel pool. Get cozy and unwind in your spa hotel in the Meatpacking District, while just a step away from the best places in town to grab a morning coffee or an evening cocktail. Copenhagen is a city focused on health as a concept, and especially the role of good health in one’s happiness; reap the benefits from a city that holds a very high standard for spas and wellness, with hot yoga, hot-stone massages, or even a spin on the CopenHot spa boat that cruises around the canals.

Vejle Fjord: Bayside oasis

In sprawling, resort-like spa hotels on the coast of the Vejle Fjord bay, get ready to unwind and to reset. With the help of staff that put your wellness first, escape into the sauna, take a dip in the pool, or spend an afternoon lounging in unique landscapes — tucked into forests while just a stone’s throw from the gorgeous coast. Relax in romantic interiors within iconic old Dutch facades. The Vejle Fjord, a bay of glacier origin, and the surrounding area are known for their focus on wellness surrounded by the tranquility of the blue-green coast. Fill your days with yoga in the gardens, a massage before a delicious lunch in the in-house restaurant, and a walk to the pier with the impending sunset. Vejle takes pride in their catering to the wellbeing of the body and the soul by enveloping you in natural settings and allowing you to turn off with wellness packages. With spa hotels that offer anti-stress, anti-age, detox, and thalassotherapy treatments, in addition to the undisputed healing quality of fresh air and time in nature, a holiday in Vejle Fjord promises to send you home back a totally new person.

Good to know

Getting there: You can fly from London to Copenhagen (CPH) quite cheaply on a flight less than two hours. From there, there are both buses and trains that take you into the city center in just around a half hour’s time. To Vejle Fjord, fly to Billund Airport (BLL), where you can take a taxi or rent a car to travel the remaining hour to your hotel on the coast. If you’re looking to combine the two trips, there is a 2.5-hour train between Copenhagen Airport and a stop nearby Vejle Fjord.
