Beach Hotel: Located directly on power-white sands
Timeless design incorporating typical Mauritian and African elements characterises the Shanti Maurice - A Nira Resort. Local architect Jean-Marc Eynaud has seamlessly combined natural local materials - such as wood, lava stone, granite and marble - with modern design. All suites and villas have sea views, a terrace or balcony, a spacious bathroom with a rain shower in the garden, separate dressing rooms and king-size beds. The 81 square-metre Ocean View and Beachfront Junior Suites lie directly on the bay’s fine white sandy beach. Sun loungers, umbrellas and chairs are provided, while guests can also hire water sports equipment, including for diving, snorkelling and surfing.

The large spa – with its 4 different spa concepts – offers nutritional counselling, massages and rejuvenating exercises, alongside a wide range of treatments. One unique concept combines traditional Ayurvedic healing treatments with a macrobiotic diet of fresh, local produce. The expansive spa area, with tea pavilion, wellness kitchen, fitness room, and private herb and vegetable garden, exudes a peaceful atmosphere amid flower gardens and tranquil pools. 4 different spa concepts are offered: Holistic-bio, Indian, Oriental and Fitness & Wellness. Nutritional advice, revitalising exercises and yoga classes help the body and mind achieve balance. Various wellness and fusion massages, Watsu treatments and other modern therapies are also available. High-quality products from the Africology skin care line are used. The beach resort is located at Chemin Grenier, on the south coast of Mauritius. It is situated in a horseshoe-shaped coral bay surrounded by green hills and sugar cane plantations. The international airport is approximately 35km from the hotel.

As well as Junior Suites, the hotel offers Luxury Villas with traditional thatched roof, private swimming pool, courtyard with outdoor rain shower and lounge beds and Sala pavilions in the garden. The villas are well shielded from prying eyes by lush vegetation. The bright and airy Luxury Suite Villas also feature a spacious living room, while the Suite Villas with 2 bedrooms and 500 square-metres of floor space offer plenty of room for family and friends. The 800 square-metre Shanti Villa exceeds all expectations. The á la carte breakfast is served overlooking the ocean in Pebbles, an open-air restaurant. Guests can choose from delicious international and regional breakfast dishes and freshly baked pastries. Pebbles, which is open all day, serves international cuisine with Indian accents and freshly caught fish for lunch and dinner. Chef Willibald Reinbacher celebrates modern Cape cuisine with fresh regional ingredients in the Stars restaurant, open in the evenings. His exquisite culinary creations are served alongside the finest South African wines. Directly on the beach, the iconic Fish Shack pampers the palate with grilled dishes served alongside fresh herbs and salads from the hotel’s own garden. With its locally brewed beer and delicious rum cocktails, the Fish Shack is also a popular meeting place for guests and locals in the evening. In addition, the Red Ginger Lounge inside the hotel serves up quality drinks alongside traditional evening entertainment. The Rum Shed opened its doors in January 2014; here, guests can enjoy the largest choice of Rum in Mauritius in a rustic setting. The gourmet experience also extends to La Kaze Mama, which offers Mauritian cuisine and cooking classes.
