Hotel description
The first class Riyad El Cadi, located right in the heart of Marrakech’s hustling and bustling Medina, is a perfect oasis of rest and unexpected tranquillity. Dive into the “Pearl of the South”, as Marrakech is also known. The Riyad El Cadi offers the best accommodation for exploring the wonderful Marrakech Old Town (Medina) as well as lively and extraordinary places nearby such as the Place Djemaa el-Fna and the Berber areas.
The Riad and its architecture
Your Marrakech adventures start at Riyad El Cadi - a riad of the upper first class. Whilst wandering around within the Riad, which is comprised of seven interconnected houses, you will get a good idea of what traditional Moroccan architecture is like. Saunter through the courtyards, salons and passages of the Riad hotel and marvel at the forms of great clarity and antique ages. The noble Riyad El Cadi dates back probably to the 13th/14th century. Rooms Within the rebuilt and considerably extended design of the first class Marrakech Riad you will find 12 individually decorated suites and rooms which are spread out over five interconnected courtyards: the “Grand Patio”, the main building; the “Douiriya” with the kitchen courtyard – the former guests part, the “Blue House” and the adjoining “Palm House” with its two courtyards. The variety of courtyards, salons and passages within the Medina of Marrakech has its own attraction, which you will no doubt experience.
Services
In Riyad El Cadi three salons and several alcoves are the ideal setting for reading, playing bridge, dozing or watching the sun go down before dinner. If you so wish, dinner can be served in the dining room of the Riad, which has room for 15 people. Extensive terraces, equipped with tents and deckchairs, invite you to rest or sunbathe. Here you have a wonderful view of the High Atlas. The small solar-heated pool with its Jacuzzi, the library with a fine assortment of books on Morocco, a large collection of classical CDs, a television set in the sitting room of the Palm House and the Hammam (massage possible) complete the services offered to all guests by the Riad.
Art within Riyad El Cadi
The first class Riad is carefully decorated. Even at the reception you are welcomed by early Berber textiles from the significant international collection of the Riad Hotel. Everywhere, in rooms, corridors and stairways of the Riyad El Cadi, important art works are distributed and contribute to the extraordinary character of the house: early Anatolian Kelims or Ottoman drawn thread works, medieval wood works of Fès or classic Chinese furniture, modern paintings or ceramic of Morocco. Everything works in harmony together and invites you to consider art as a language which can connect. In the Riyad El Cadi Gallery, a permanent exhibition of textile art gives an insight into the age-old civilization of Morocco’s Berber.
