First opened in April 2014, the complex is in the ideal location for a spa hotel—at the centre of the natural park of Serra da Estrela. From the outdoor swimming pool guests can take in the impressive views across the natural surroundings. Inside an indoor swimming pool, Turkish steam bath and body treatments encourage you to relax. Even in winter, this retreat at the Pousada Serra da Estrela remains appealing, thanks to the nearby ski area. Your stay is rounded off by the friendly and personal service in the Portuguese Pousada.
Pousada: Historic mansion with modern concept
Once a sanatorium was located within the historic building, but in 2013 the 20th century manor house was renovated from the ground up. The new concept of this mountain hotel comes from the award-winning Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto Moura. With 92 rooms, the Pousada da Serra da Estrela promises a relaxing stay in the mountains; 12 of the rooms provide maximum privacy as spacious suites. All rooms are equipped with large bathrooms, air conditioning, minibar and flat-screen TVs. The free Wi-Fi and desks with phone access also provide comfort for working during your trip. The helpful service team can be reached around the clock and are happy to give you tips on excursions to the historical villages, castles and museums in the area.

The Pousada da Serra da Estrela is surrounded by mountains and nature in every direction. This secluded location in the mountains provides guests with undisturbed tranquillity. At 1,200 metres altitude, the hotel features panoramic views of the mountains, nature and the city centre of Manteigas in the valley. On the terrace you can relax in loungers and enjoy the views. The mountains of Serra da Estrela stretch up to 1993m in height and are surrounded by a large nature park. In the winter months, the ridges are covered with snow and provide an opportunity to go skiing and snowboarding in the nearby ski resort.

At noon and in the evening the Serra da Estrela restaurant opens its doors. The menu provides fine Portuguese dishes like marinated beef with red wine and garlic or small Petiscos and empanadas with crab and vegetable filling. In the cosy bar you can relax with a glass of port or Beirão, a Portuguese liqueur, as the sun sets behind the mountains.

Just 14 km away from the hotel you will find Torre, the highest point of continental Portugal, nearby to which the winter ski resort awaits.
