The Oberoi Mauritius is paradise for anyone who is yearning for a bit of sun on their face and sand under their feet. The resort accommodates its guests in smart thatched-roof villas with the most modern luxury interiors. The beach is just a short walk away (in some cases just a few meters) through the beautifully landscaped grounds. In addition to the excellent standard amenities, some of the villas also boast their own pool.

These 71 thatched-roof villas and pavilions are the perfect choice for either a romantic getaway or a relaxed break with the family. The size of the apartments ranges from the 70sqm Luxury Pavilion, offering plenty of space for a family with two children, up to the huge Royal Villa at 650sqm which includes its own private swimming pool (60sqm). All of them offer stylish interiors using natural materials like raffia, cane, wood and cotton, lending the rooms both an elegant look and practical feel. Each one has a large flat-screen TV, music system, safe, air conditioning, minibar, internet access and a super comfortable bathroom. The cherry on the cake is the excellent service with daily room cleaning, fresh towels and mini bar and fruit bowl restocking.
Beach hotel: Palm tree-lined beach & fabulous sunsets
At the edge of the hotel grounds there is a small, palm tree-lined beach with powdery white sand and comfortable sun loungers under thatched parasols. The views over the bay are terrific. Getting into the calm, crystal-clear water can be a bit rocky, so make sure to pack a pair of bathing shoes. But once you’re in, the waters are perfect for swimming. There’s also a walkway that leads to a platform with thatched roof-pavilion and ladder into the water. Without doubt one of the most memorable moments you’ll have here will be watching the sunset from the beach!
Food & drink: Creole cuisine under the stars
The main restaurant at The Oberoi Mauritius is an open-air restaurant overlooking the sea. Part sheltered under thatched roofs, here you can enjoy a delicious selection of items from the extensive breakfast buffet that runs from 7-11am. Creole and pan-Asian cuisine is served at lunch and dinner. Every evening in the part indoors/part outdoors bar there are professionally mixed drinks and cocktails to sip while you listen to pianist playing softly in the background.
Leisure & sport: Spa & watersports
The focus is on the beach, pool and relaxation at The Oberoi Mauritius. In the garden there are two large communal pools with sea views. And there’s also an on-site spa, which offers spa treatments, beauty treatments and massages from around the world. The hotel is also well set up for watersports enthusiasts. Choose from Hobie Cats, water skiing, kayaking, sailing and diving trips.
Location: Quietly situated in the north of the island
The Oberoi Mauritius is situated at the northern tip of Mauritius, right by the water with its own small beach. The hotel is very secluded which means it’s also very quiet. A larger beach (Grand Baie) is 10km away, and it’s 15km to Port Louis. Both can be reached in a taxi for a reasonable price. But if you want to make more than a couple of trips out or you want to see more of the island, a hire car is essential.
