4 Star Hotel: Classic elegance with warm colours; rooms for gala dinners and receptions
The 54 classic and 6 deluxe rooms are timelessly decorated in warm beige and brown tones. Guests can choose from spacious rooms with 2 single beds, double or triple occupancy, or up to 4 beds in the Deluxe category. All rooms feature a balcony, desk and multimedia facilities, and are furnished using high-quality natural materials. The 6 luxurious junior suites also feature an open living room and large windows. On request, the rooms can be romantically decorated with flowers, chocolates or champagne. For business meetings and events, the hotel has a modern convention centre with 3 meeting rooms and an events hall for gala dinners and receptions. The rooms can accommodate up to 180 people and are equipped with the latest technology. A 400 square-metre exhibition space is also available.

The hotel spa covers 800 square metres and offers a relaxing environment in atmospheric rooms. A range of massages, including herbal, Asian, hot stone and full body, as well as a salt cave and hot tub, guarantee relaxation and renewed vitality. In addition to Finnish and non-nude saunas, the Lu’ Wellness & Beauty Centre features a hammam, solarium, massage showers and outdoor pool with whirlpool and hydro-massage jets. Beauty treatments and advice, lymphatic drainage, ice therapy and Ayurvedic treatments are also offered in this exclusive spa, where guests will find the space they need to unwind body and mind. A large selection of herbal teas is offered in the relaxation room.
Hotel with Cooking Courses: Creative cooking and wine tasting
Michelin-starred chef Gianluca Tore serves creative cuisine each evening in the hotel’s Lu’ Restaurant. Cooking classes are held in the restaurant during the day for a surcharge: the courses take place on request and require a minimum number of participants. Tore received his first Michelin star in 1996 and has since constantly evolved his cooking style. His focus is on Italian and Mediterranean dishes, taking guests on a culinary journey between tradition and modernity. Sardinia is also famous for its wines. The hotel offers a wide variety of fine wines and belongs to the Consorzio del Carignano del Sulcis wine route. Guests can enjoy a walk-in wine cellar, wine tasting and tours to local wineries.
Eating & Drinking: Continental breakfast buffet and gourmet restaurant
The buffet-style continental breakfast, with regional specialities, is served in the restaurant. Dinner is served from a menu for those guests staying half board. The Lu’ Restaurant serves lunch and dinner á la carte in an open and elegant environment. The award-winning Michelin-starred cuisine features typical Sardinian and international dishes as well as fine pastries. Special dietary requirements are catered for on request. The Lu’ Café serves guests snacks, finger food, tea and cocktails, as well as featuring an excellent wine list.
Sport & Leisure: Spa, tennis, beach delights and sights
In addition to the Lu’ Wellness & Beauty Centre, the hotel has a modern gym, which can be used free of charge. The on-site tennis court can be used for a fee, as can the 190 square-metre (28m-long) outdoor swimming pool. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to nearby beaches, where, as well as swimming and sunbathing, guests can try their hand at all kinds of water sports, including surfing, sailing and diving. Trips to the islands of Sant’ Antioco and San Pietro are also popular. The public beaches on the coast are about 12km from the hotel and guests must pay a fee. They are lively beaches, with beach volleyball, sun loungers, umbrellas and lifeguards. In addition to the lagoon beach of Porto Pino, the south-west coast also features quiet bays surrounded by cliffs and sandy beaches backed by dunes. The Sulcis region is best explored with a hire car. Bicycles can be rented from the hotel for a fee. Tours and excursions around this history-packed area can be booked at the hotel and there is a shuttle service to some attractions. In Carbonia itself, the Mine Museum, the Archaeological Museum at Villa Sulcis, and Piazza Roma are all worth a visit.

The Lu’ Hotel is located just outside the former mining town of Carbonia in south-western Sardinia. The island’s capital Cagliari is around 70km away. There is a chargeable transfer service to Cagliari’s international airport. The airport is also directly reachable in 45 minutes from the train station in Carbonia. You can rent cars at the airport. Carbonia is a great base for exploring the region.
