Hotel description
The Hotel Sacher Viena harmoniously combines historic flair with modern amenities: exquisite antiques, marble bathrooms with underfloor heating, precious silk tapestries and carpets create a cozy, timeless atmosphere in the rooms and suites. While gourmet guests will enjoy the culinary delights of the two award-winning gourmet restaurants and the Café Sacher, those looking for wellness can relish the luxury Sacher Spa, which is devoted to both body and soul. 149 rooms and suites in the elegant Art Nouveau style stand for classic luxury, perfectly complemented by the excellent service.
Historic hotel: Elegant Art Nouveau style and tradition
The Hotel Sacher, opened by Eduard Sacher in 1876, has remained a Viennese institution until today. Franz Sacher, the father of the founder, invented the recipe for the famous Sacher Torte in 1832, which has now achieved cult status and can be enjoyed in the hotel’s own Café Sacher. Sacher was at that time also the Royal and Imperial Court supplier. This traditional hotel has always been a favourite haunt of celebrities. The illustrious guests of the hotel include Indira Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth II and John F. Kennedy. The spacious rooms and suites, with their elegant décor of original paintings, ornate antiques and carefully selected pieces of furniture, represent the elegant Art Nouveau style which is part of the rich Viennese culture.
Luxury hotel: Historic flair combined with impeccable service and modern comforts
The Hotel Sacher in Vienna is one of the few luxury hotels worldwide which is family-owned and offers its guests an atmosphere where you can feel at home. Each of the 149 rooms is decorated with chandeliers, precious antiques, marble bathrooms and luxurious fabrics and it offers all amenities guests could possibly want. The technical equipment includes flat screen, DVD player, WiFi, minibar, and bathroom mirrors with integrated TV. This is the typical style of Sacher: preserving the past while offering modern comforts. In the top floor of the hotel the exclusive Sacher Spa features a gym and a variety of saunas. In addition, the in-house care line invites guests to unwind with fantastic views over Vienna at "Time to Chocolate."
Gourmet hotel: Food and wines which have won numerous awards
The Hotel Sacher has two restaurants with Gault-Millau toques. Decorated with chandeliers and opulent dark red furnishings, the restaurant "Rote Bar" serves Austrian classics such as boiled beef with Apple horseradish or the legendary Wiener Schnitzel. Guests can also dine in the black-and-white winter garden overlooking the Vienna State Opera. In the restaurant "Anna Sacher", a tribute to the Grande Dame of hotels, the innovative cuisine of head chef Werner Pichlmaier captivates diners again and again with creative culinary delights made from local and exotic ingredients. The food in both restaurants is accompanied by fine Austrian and international wines.
Food & drink: Breakfast and culinary delights
In the marble hall, an excellent buffet breakfast is served every morning. It offers salmon and shrimp, fruits and fresh juices, eggs and much more, in addition to various meats and cheeses. Café Sacher, which exudes the charm of a typical Viennese coffee house, serves the famous original Sacher Torte alongside the finest cakes. Next to the café is the Sacher Stube lounge, where smoking guests are welcome. The Café and the Sacher restaurant are open until midnight every day. The Sacher Eck is located at Kärntner Straße, Vienna, an exclusive pedestrian corner. Snacks and typical Austrian pastries are served in the restaurant, which is open daily. This includes various hot and cold drinks, as well as select Austrian wines. The two restaurants "Rote Bar" and "Anna Sacher" have been awarded with several Gault-Millau toques and offer promising culinary creations. With its opulent interior in royal blue, the " Blaue Bar" is reminiscent of Vienna at the turn of the century. People meet here before or after the Opera for a drink or to relax after dinner.
Sport & leisure time: Modern fitness room, exclusive spa treatments, golf and Wiener Prater
On the top floor of the hotel, guests may enjoy the exclusive Sacher Spa. With over 350 square meters, thermal area includes a variety of saunas, a gym with the latest equipment, as well as a beauty and day Spa. For lovers of golf, there is an 18-hole golf course at the Golf Club Vienna, which is open all year round and approximately 10 km away. In the Prater, one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, there is something for each family member, with attractions such as roller coasters and a Whirligig at an altitude of 117 metres.
Location: In the heart of Vienna, opposite the State Opera
The Hotel Sacher Wien is on a traditional shopping street, opposite the State Opera and right next to the Kärntner Straße. Many of the well-known sights are only a short walk from the hotel, and the nearest metro station is only a few steps away. Thanks to its special location in the heart of the city, the Albertina with its famous art collection is just a few steps away and the Vienna Hofburg is also located nearby. The airport is about 18 km away, and the Westbahnhof train station about 5 km away.
