Hotel description

Far from the traditional layout of a classical hotel, the Louis C. Jacob transports guests back to the times of the luxuriant merchants’ houses. The historic charm from 200 years ago merges here in this 5-star hotel with modern luxury. Guests will find enjoyment, relaxation as well as a wellness area with sauna, whirlpool and solarium, as well as the hotel’s own gourmet restaurant under the lead of Michelin-star chef Thomas Martin. The wonderful bordering lime tree terraces and the hotel bar are also perfect places to relax.
5-Star-Hotels: Comfort, from the Elbe Suite to the Liebermann Room
Each of the 85 rooms and suites of the Louis C. Jacob is individually decorated. The spacious rooms combine classical elements and luxurious details: hand-woven carpets and comfortable, extra large beds and elegant cherrywood furniture are spread across beautiful wooden floorboards. A special feature of each room is a walk-in wardrobe. The natural stone bathtubs are crafted of marble and polished granite.
Historic Hotel: On the trail of art hundreds of years old
Among the luxuries of the Jacob Hotel is the art work that decorates the rooms and lounging area. Over 500 pictures dating from between the 18th and 20th centuries depict the landscapes and character of Hamburg, such as the harbour or the river Elbe. Art enthusiasts will find the oil paintings of Max Liebermann in the terrace area particularly impressive. The hotel itself also looks back on a long and eventful history. Originally a pastry shop, around 200 years ago the place became a restaurant and then a luxury hotel which was highly popular among the rich and famous in the Seventies of the last century. After a phase of decline the Louis C. Jacob reopened in the Nineties and today is a small boutique hotel which perfectly fuses the old Hamburg style with top notch modern services.
Leisure and Sport: Gourmet cuisine to try cooking yourself and bike tours
With a gourmet restaurant at the luxury hotel, guests can do more than merely dine exquisitely. They can also take part in gourmet cooking classes and learn all the secrets behind the delicious recipes. Included in the course price is a closing meal. For those who prefer to watch, there is also the opportunity to watch the gourmet chefs as they prepare a wonderful six course meal at the so-called "Cooking Table." In a wine seminar guests can learn all the tricks needed to recognize a good wine. Furthermore, bikes are also available for use for those wanting to keep active and explore the area.
Food and Drink: Wine and gourmet feasts under lime trees
At the Jacob restaurant guests are treated both in the afternoon and in the evening to a grandiose French inspired menu. The dining experience is perfected by the rare and extensive choice of wines from the hotel’s own wine cellar. When the weather is right guests can enjoy eating on the terrace, with wonderful views across the Elbe. A delicious breakfast is also served on this 200 year old terrace when the weather permits it. The Jacobs bar serves the traditional high tea, an evening glass of wine, sherries and cocktails. The wine bar "Kleines Jacob" on the opposite side of the street to the hotel is also warmly inviting: hearty cuisine and wines from vineyards all over Germany are served in a cosy and comfortable environment.
Location: Alongside the Hamburg Elbe
It’s not possible to be nearer to the Elbe and its daily passing ships than at the Hotel Louis C. Jacob. Although the Elbe causeway is a highly idyllic spot, guests will not be totally cut off from the heart of the city. In 20 minutes guests can reach the city center using public transport. The bus stops directly on the hotel’s doorstep. The urban railway (S-Bahn Hochkamp station) is an easy walk of 15 Minutes away.
