The Hotel Alex Zermatt is within 100 metres of the ski area, which is among the highest elevation ski areas in the Alps. It is also one of the best developed ski areas for visitors. The area´s claim to fame is that one can ski, snowboard and winter hike 365 days of the year here. The hotel has a modern ski room where all of the equipment is stored and disinfected every night. The main attraction of Zermatt is its ski area. Though in summer, many visitors come here just for hiking. The Hotel Alex Zermatt lies in the Matter valley right in the center of Zermatt. Guests need only walk 100 metres to the train station. Nearby there are many shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. The nearest town with more shopping opportunities is Thun, around 80 kilometres away. The roundtrip to Geneva airports is about 300 kilometres.
