With the top down to Lake Millstatt or via the Großglockner road: For special excursions, a hotel-owned fleet of 12 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabrios stand ready, providing a dynamic as well as stylish way to enjoy the wonderful Alpine landscape around the Defereggen Valley. A second sporting emphasis is put on the game of Golf: the hotel’s own indoor Golf Hall allows ball trajectories of around 30 metres, so you can swing the pitching wedge as well as the 1 wood. The 27-hole Golf Championship course "Dolomitengolf”, for the use of which the hotel offers guests special rates, is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Badminton and tennis can be played in the hotel’s sports hall, the latter also in the summer on two outdoor courts. There is also a well-equipped gym.
Nature: Hiking and mountain biking in untouched mountains; white water rafting
From the view out the window, guests of the Hdefereggental Hotel & Resort are treated to beautiful nature, inviting them to go out walking. The Schwarzach, around 200 m away from the hotel, has pastures and pine trees, making for a varied landscape. Those who want to venture higher can take walks up to a hight of around 2,000m. Climbers can choose from more than 25 peaks in the immediate vicinity, and a mountain bike can also be used to experience the wild beauty of the mountains. You can be rented in, among other places, nearby St. Jakob. Exciting whitewater rafting on the Isel is also offered, from Lienz, 40 km away.

With more than 300 wines, the in-house Vinotheque can provide the appropriate wine for the meal, as well as providing a refined ambience in a stylish setting for wine tasting. It focuses on Austrian wines, but wines from other regions can also be found here. In the cosy bar with fireplace, afternoons can be spent before a crackling fire, with coffee and cakes from the in-house patisserie, while in the evening selected drinks and fruity cocktails can be enjoyed.

Even in winter, the hotel offers many highlights: guided snow-shoe hikes, curling evenings with mulled wine, tobogganing with rest stops in huts, or romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snow-covered winter landscape of the de Deferregental Valley, are just a few of the options for the cold season. Alpine skiers can enjoy the perfectly maintained slopes at nearby St. Jakob. The snowy Brunnalm ski area there is between 1,300 and 2,550 m high; the last departure of the day can be ended directly in front of the Defereggental Hotel & Resort. A marked, over 50 km long cross-country ski run starts there as well.

Hardly one other high mountain valley in the Alps boasts such pristine surroundings as the Defereggen Valley in East Tyrol. It extends over approximately 60 km of the sun-drenched southern side of the Alps, flows through the Schwarzach and is surrounded by powerful two - and three thousand meter peaks. The Defereggen Valley has always been sparsely populated, and now it has speical protection as part of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The Defereggental Hotel & resort lies in quiet surroundings, about 5 km away from each of the municipalities of St. Vitus and St. Jakob. Lienz, the district capital of East Tyrol, with numerous shopping opportunities, is about 40 km away, Cortina d’ Ampezzo approx. 85 km and Kitzbühel about 90 km. The Großglockner, at 3,798m Austria’s highest mountain, can be reached after 30 km.
