This small, late medieval chateau from the 17th century was renovated to a 4-star hotel that is located in the known wine region of Bergerac. The romantic yellow tuff stone chateau is surrounded by pure nature, vineyards and its 9-hole golf course. The hotel provides 15 hotel rooms including two suites and one apartment whose modern interior design is mixed with the original architecture of the 17th century. Small groups of six to eight people, family and friends, have the option to stay in their private luxury villas, which are on the same properties. The villas have three to four bedrooms, each room with its proper bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, living room, private terrace and garden and private swimming pool. The Château les Merles experience starts with a glass of Champagne Méthode Traditionnelle and Amuses bouche - French appetisers. The hotel’s proper gastronomic restaurant and bistro are serving contemporary cuisine from the Périgord region and pair the food with a wide range of house and local wines from Bergerac. The restaurant has sun terraces in the courtyard. Besides the restaurant and the 9-hole golf course, Château les Merles offers two saloons with fire place and library in the hotel, a tennis court, a lounge with grand piano and fire place and an outside black swimming pool surrounded by lavender flowers.

Under the direction of chef de cuisine Bas Holten, Restaurant Les Merles treats its guests with light and innovative French gourmet cuisine. The restaurant offers both lunch and dinner with a variety of different menus ranging from 3-course to 6-course feasts or the possibility to order à la carte. And for breakfast, not only the bread, but also the pains au chocolat and croissants are made in the hotel’s own bakery oven. Depending on the weather breakfast is served outside on the terrace or in the cosy bistro serves as both, a lounge bar and second restaurant. For a special treat, Château les Merles offers cook and wine weeks where guests learn how to cook the Les Merles recipes at first hand from the chef de cuisine, taste the exquisite French wine during interactive wine tastings and will visit a local market and food producers. The Les Merles kitchen also likes to focus on Foie gras and truffles – both specialities from the Périgord region. Most of the ingredients for the restaurant are cultivated in the on-site organic vegetable garden or are bought from focal farmers.
