Sport hotel: Easy walking or get active in the mountains
In summer, the Alpine Wellnesshotel Karwendel is an ideal starting point for hiking and cycling in the “Alpenpark Karwendal” nature reserve. Hiking backpacks and bicycles are provided by the hotel free of charge. You can also get an E-bike for a fee. Practically directly from the hotel’s front door, you can cycle or walk at your leisure around the lake. If you’re looking for something more sporty, you can go climbing or mountain bike till your heart’s content in the dense network of mountain and forest trails with steep climbs and fast descents. The hotel itself also runs an activity program, yoga and Qi Gong classes. There’s also a small gym.
Ski hotel: Pure winter sports
If you’re visiting the Alpine Wellnesshotel Karwendel in winter, you have everything you need for a perfect ski holiday. Around Lake Achen there are several ski resorts to choose from. Take the Karwendel cable car right from the village up to its ski area which is particularly suited to families and beginners. The neighboring areas of Maurach & Christlum are better choices for the more advanced skiiers. If you prefer something a bit more sedate but you love being outdoors, you can also try snowshoeing or cross country skiing directly from the hotel. This is also one of the world’s best snowbiking regions for adventurous winter sports lovers. After a day on the slopes, retreat to the wellness area in a Tyrolean style with sauna, indoor pool, heated outdoor pool (in winter) and a wide range of massages, beauty and pampering treatments. After a sauna or massage help yourself to a healthy snack from the wellness buffet and relax on heated waterbeds or gaze out at the surrounding mountains from the panoramic-view relaxation room.

The Alpine Wellnesshotel Karwendel is ideally located halfway between the village center and the lake. It is a two-minute walk to the lake along the idyllic path that wraps around the water’s edge. The Karwendel cable car, which takes you to the hiking and skiing area, is about 500 meters away.
