Hotel description

The Porto Bay Serra Golf Hotel is housed in a picturesque villa with a colonial touch, that was built in the year 1920. To this main house was added a more modern extension, in which some of the rooms are located. The hotel offers 21 guest rooms in total with historically-inspired fittings, which perfectly match the romantic architecture of the building. Among other things, it features a glass-enclosed pool, a recommendable restaurant and an enchanting garden with a huge variety of plant species, which, like in a botanical garden, are labelled with an information board. Not least for golfers: the hotel is a splendid base, because the local golf club Santo da Serra (27 holes) is only 500m away.
Nature Hotel: Hiking in the Laurel Forest
Madeira is a dream island for hikers and nature lovers. The Porto Bay Serra Golf is an excellent starting point for hiking and cycling, as well as mountain biking. There are bicycles at the hotel. Especially popular are the so-called ‘Levada Walks’ along the old irrigation channels, which lead across the island. Absolutely unparalleled is the scenic beauty of the world’s unique laurel forests of Madeira, which in 1999 were recognised as a national World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
