Hotel description
Located in the heart of Vienna, the Palais Coburg offers elegant accommodations with views of the Old Town and City Park. The former residence of the House of Coburg-Gotha welcomes its guests with 36 lavishly appointed suites. High above the rooftops of Mozart’s city, the exclusive spa entices guests with a sauna, steam room, pool, and sun terrace. With its gourmet restaurant and a well-stocked wine cellar featuring rare and exquisite vintages, the Palais epitomizes refined indulgence and is a destination for both connoisseurs and discerning culture lovers alike.
Luxury Hotel: Magnificent suites furnished with an eye for history
All 36 suites are individually designed and feature the Royal, Classic, and Modern design themes. They include a luxurious bathroom, a separate guest restroom, separate living and sleeping areas, a TV, a telephone, free Wi-Fi, and individually controlled air conditioning. Some of the large suites span two floors and are each dedicated to a historical figure from the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha family.
The new Signature Suites combine contemporary design with the palace’s historic architecture. Multi-bedroom suites offer several bedrooms and shared living areas.
Wellness Hotel: Pool and Rooftop Sun Deck
On the roof of the Palais Coburg, guests will find an exclusive wellness area featuring a pool, sun deck, steam room, and Finnish sauna. Beauty treatments using select products and soothing massages round out the offerings. A yoga room and a gym with access to the garden provide additional opportunities for exercise and relaxation. The color-coordinated ambiance makes the wellness area a special oasis of relaxation.
Historic Hotel: Stay Like Royalty in a Former Noble Residence
The Coburg Palace was completed in 1845 and commissioned at the time by the Prince of Saxe-Coburg. It was built on the ruins of the 16th-century Braunbastei. The magnificent palace served as the residence of the Coburg-Gotha royal family. This is evident in its impressive state rooms, which are still used for ceremonial purposes today. From 2000 to 2003, the palace was lovingly renovated and opened as a hotel. The historic elements were respectfully integrated into the hotel’s modern design, creating an elegant transition from the past to the present. Since August 2026, the hotel has been operated as a private guesthouse offering personalized service.
Food & Drink: Breakfast at the Magnolia Garden and Gourmet Cuisine
At the Palais Coburg, modern haute cuisine blends with a unique architectural heritage. The restaurants and bars offer exceptional culinary experiences, accompanied by one of the world’s most distinguished wine collections.
Clementine im Glashaus, awarded two Gault&Millau toques, serves seasonal cuisine daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. under the direction of Lewis Emerson—from breakfast through lunch and afternoon tea to dinner. In the summer, the terrace in the palace garden is a welcoming spot.
The independent Silvio Nickol Gourmet Restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars and is renowned for its modern haute cuisine. Cocktails in the salons, as well as guided tours and tastings in the wine archive—which houses more than 60,000 bottles—round out the culinary offerings.
Sports & Leisure: Relax above the rooftops of Vienna; cultural attractions in the surrounding area
In addition to the exclusive wellness area high above the rooftops of Vienna—which features a pool, sauna, steam room, and sun terrace perfect for relaxation—the hotel also offers a modern fitness center for your daily workout. The hotel is just a few minutes away from attractions such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral and City Park, which offers plenty of paths for jogging and walking. In addition, there is a tennis court, a golf course, and an indoor swimming pool in the immediate vicinity. Around the Danube Island, you can rent sailboats or set out on a hot-air balloon or boat tour.
Location: In the historic center of Vienna
The hotel is located in the heart of Vienna’s historic city center, just a few minutes’ walk from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the City Park, and several subway stations. One of the Austrian capital’s nightlife districts, with many restaurants, bars, and pubs, is right nearby. A movie theater and the opera house are also within walking distance of the hotel. Thanks to its proximity to Kärntner Straße—Vienna’s most upscale shopping street—a stay at the Hotel Palais Coburg Residenz is the perfect way to combine your visit with a shopping trip.
