The Hotel Allgäu Sonne is a sport and spahotel in a unique, sunny location overlooking the spa town of Oberstaufen. It enjoys spectacular views of the Allgäu Nagelfluhkette mountain range. An ideal spot for sports enthusiasts and holidaymakers in need of relaxation: in summer for hiking (e.g. the Naturpark Nagelfluh ridge hike), in winter for cross-country skiing and snowshoe hikes in the area surrounding the Hotel Allgäu Sonne. Three smaller ski regions in the surrounding area are particularly popular with beginners and families. Back at the hotel in the evening you’ll find a huge spa area and award-winning gourmet cuisine that is just as healthy as it is tasty.

Nature: The sun on the mountain side

From a hill in a beautiful sunny location, the Hotel Allgäu Sonne offers a fantastic view of the mountains of Upper Allgäu. Not far from Lake Constance, between low mountains and alpine scenery, you’ll find some wonderful hiking trails here.

Sports: Active vacation at a sports hotel

There is a wide range of sports to try out in the surrounding area, like cycling. The hotel offers weekly guided e-bike tours and stand-up paddling. The hotel is also a member of the Golf Selection Hotels: the Oberstaufen-Steibis and Bregenzerwald golf courses are not far away and with discount of greenfees and other benefits. The hotel Allgäu Sonne is the perfect starting point for alpine activities of all levels in the area around Oberstaufen and in the Nagelfluh nature park. Guided hikes leave the hotel and follow mountain. In the near you can discover a lot of small dairy farms and eventually you make e trip to Lake Constance. In winter you can try out cross-country and downhill skiing as well as snowshoe trekking.

Spread over 2100sqm, the wellness oasis features two indoor and a heated outdoor pool, whirlpool, Finnish panoramasauna and steam room. The adjoining beauty center specializes in skin rejuvenation using the latest methods. Another area offers expert medical and holistic treatments on the theme of body balance, health and rehabilitation. Some of the methods used include metabolic regulation by metabolic balance® and the famous Schroth cure.

Eating & drinking: Regional and healthy cuisine

The gourmet cuisine served at this hotel places a lot of emphasis on local organic produce. The head chef Wolfgang Mätzler proves that healthy food can be irresistible too. His repertoire includes spa and vitality meals, all served in the modern ambiance of the hotel restaurant. When the weather is nice, guests can dine on the large sun terrace. At the Stießbergstüble, the Alpine-themed dance hall with bar, another expert is at work – this time bartender Odin Karas, who knows all there is to know about wines, spirits and cocktails in particular, which he mixes with daily live music and dancing.
