Hotel description
This historic stately home charms guests with its stylish furnishings from the rooms to the quiet courtyard all the way up to the roof terrace. A romantic atmosphere with a touch of oriental glamor dominates in its guest rooms which each boast a top-quality finish. Good-quality, hand-embroidered fabrics, oriental lamps and rugs, an abundance of cushions and, last but not least, very elegant bathroom fixtures create a magical feel. The small range of rooms includes two intimate double rooms, two junior suites with a sofa area and a sumptuous suite. The friendly staff serve homemade Moroccan food at times to suit you. Guests can also take advantage of the hotel’s traditional hammam (steam bath).
City hotel: Old aristocratic palace in the Jewish Quarter
This historic town house is situated in Mellah, the traditional Jewish Quarter of Marrakech which is like a city in itself with plenty of sights to see, including the old Lazama Synagogue, the impressive Jewish Cemetery and the many herb and spice shops that you’ll also find here. About 300m away from the Dar 73 is the famous El Bahia Palace, which is definitely worth a visit. It’s about a 10-minute-walk to Jemaa El-Fnaa Square, the most famous and central square of the old town. Back at the hotel you can enjoy a traditional mint tea whilst watching the sunset over Marrakech, all from a comfortable sofa on the roof terrace.
Historic: Old town flair and oriental villa architecture
The neighborhood where the Dar 73 is situated is part of the Medina (old town) of Marrakech. A walk through this medieval maze of alleyways reveals the historic and exotic core of the city. The Dar 73 itself is a fantastic place if you’re interested in history. Its typical Riad architecture, where the focus of the building is its sheltered interior courtyard, means that you can leave the chaos of the Medina behind and enter a world of peace and tranquility as soon as you close the door after you. The interior of this grand town villa is particularly beautiful. In the guest rooms you’ll find traditional craftsmanship mixed with a contemporary design and large black and white photographs featuring snapshots of Moroccan life.
Food & drink: Moroccan specialties and individual service
In addition to the morning breakfast, guests are able to order a selection of Moroccan dishes, snacks and drinks at any time throughout the day. Guests are served either on the terrace or in the courtyard which has an open-air dining area.
Location: At the edge of the Medina
At the southern edge of the Medina, the Dar 73 offers a strategic location for exploring the historic center. The souks, Jemaa El-Fnaa Square and the Koutoubia Mosque are all just a short walk away.
