Beach: A private beach, 2 swimming pools and a variety of water sports
The Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa is surrounded by 3 sandy beaches that all look onto a turquoise lagoon. Some of the rooms offer direct beach access. Due to the sloping banks and quiet surf, the beaches are ideal for families and children. 2 large swimming pools with pool bars, nestled in the exotic tropical garden, are open to guests. Parasols and sunbeds on the beach and by the pools can be used free of charge. Surrounded by the species-rich Blue Bay Marine Park, the beach resort is an ideal starting point for a range of water sports. The resort proposes numerous water-based activities, like snorkelling, trips with glass-bottom boats, water skiing, kayaking, pedal boats and sailing.
Wellness: 2 spa areas with a tropical flair, sauna and hamam
The spa is run by the internationally renowned brand, Clarins, providing guests the opportunity to enjoy moments of piece in 2 carefully-established spa areas with several saunas and hamams. The oriental inspired Le Source Spa is located next to the main area and is surrounded by tropical gardens. It offers a range of treatments from traditional massages to modern balneo- and hydrotherapy. A natural stone path guides guests through a thick bamboo forest to La Source Spa. 20 thatched massage rooms are spread out around a glistening pool and blend in harmoniously with the surrounding exotic flora including palm trees, hibiscus and frangipangi trees. In this topical atmosphere, guests are offered beauty treatments such as full body scrubs, massages, and soothing manicures and pedicures.
Sports hotel: Golf, tennis, sailing and windsurfing
The Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa offers access to numerous land and water-based activities. This includes a 9-hole golf course, a diving centre, tennis, kayaking, bowling and water skiing. The resort’s eco-tourism programme brings guests closer to the tropical nature of the island by offering canoeing, bike tours and boat trips. Kite surfing, sailing courses and guided dives are also on offer. Two large swimming pools lined with palm trees are situated on the lush grounds. A gym equipped with cardio equipment invites guests to exercise, and a sauna is available in the fitness centre for relaxing afterwards.
Food & drink: 5 restaurants, Thai gourmet cuisine
Tthe Shandrani resort has 5 restaurants available for its guests. Thai specialities, fish and sea food, as well as international gourmet cuisine cater to guests’ discerning palates. Snacks and hors d’oeuvres are available from 15:00 to 17:00. Local and imported alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks compliment the fine dining experience and are available from 10:00-23:00. Guests can enjoy fruity cocktails in the Sirius bar, which also has a separate dance floor and offers live entertainment every evening. The comfortable Blue Bay bar serves fresh crepes in the afternoon.
Location: Near the airport, overlooking the lagoon
The Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa boasts a unique location on a private peninsula, surrounded by the Blue Ray Marine Park. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is about 4 km away. The capital city of Mauritius, Port Louis, is 40km away and is home to the Bagatelle international shopping mall. Mahébourg is 12km away and hosts the well-known weekly Monday market.
Sports and Leisure: Spa, boat tours, climbing tours and mountain biking
The hotel provides guests with unlimited access to various recreational land and water-based activities. Tennis, golf, kayaking, boccie, biking and a 9-hole golf course are just a few of the included offers. The only activities that have an extra charge are diving, sailing and kite surfing courses. A short boat trip takes guests to the nearby island, Iles aux Aigrettes, which is a famous nature reserve. Other excursions offered by the resort start in the eastern part of the island, with a visit to the weekly Monday market 12km from Mahébourg. The trip then goes up through the wild sugar cane fields and into the jungle of the Black River National Park. Guests can relax in the resort’s tropical garden on comfortable loungers, in 2 spacious swimming pools and in the exclusive spa. External companies offer various activities such as deep-sea fishing in the Indian Ocean, speed-boat rides, adventure abseiling and climbing, and hiking and mountain bike tours.
