In order to be able to look at everything in peace, you should plan 4 days. You can keep one day free for the HafenCity. Many sights like the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall, the Speicherstadt or the Miniatur Wunderland are close together. There are also great cafés and restaurants right on the waterfront.
The Speicherstadt in itself is a highlight and a wonderful location for photos, but there are also many other sights, such as museums and the traditional ship harbour. The Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall is located a little farther into HafenCity. It is the new landmark of the city. You can get a good view of Hamburg from the waterside by taking the ferry line 62 to Finkenwerder and back. To stroll through bars and clubs in the evening, the most famous street of Hamburg is best suited: the Reeperbahn.
HafenCity in the Hamburg-Mitte district offers many sights, such as the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall or the Speicherstadt, but also hip cafés overlooking the water. In addition, the Sternschanze and Sankt Pauli districts with the Reeperbahn are the most popular trendy areas of the Hanseatic city.
Hamburg is clearly the musical metropolis of Germany. No other musical ran as long and successfully as the Disney classic "The Lion King". But Hamburg also has other impressive musicals. Highlights of this season are "Cirque du Soleil Paramour", "Pretty Woman" or "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child".
May is the best time to visit Hamburg. The temperatures are pleasant and there are events worth seeing, such as the annual cherry blossom festival and the Port Anniversary. If possible, stay in Hamburg for one Sunday in order to experience the famous Hamburg fish market that takes place every week with live music, souvenirs and of course fish rolls.
The most popular hotels are the stylish 25hours Hotel Altes Hafenamt with modern design in the oldest building in HafenCity, the design hotel The Westin Hamburg in the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall with a breathtaking panoramic view and the magnificent Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten with view of the Alster.
