The historic hotel Pieve de Caminino, named after an enigmatic saint, is located within the wild Maremma in Tuscany. The Marrucchi-Locatelli family has owned this romantic hotel since 1873. The Tuscany hotel was restored to its former splendor in 1997 with a lot of attention to the conservation of works of art and details. The historic hotel has not least a church and works as the fresco from Simone Martini from 1328 and a Saint Feriolo painting.

The country house hotel Pieve de Caminino is located on a property of 500 ha in Tuscany, Italy. The owners have harvested olives and extracted olive oil for more 100 years, and you are invited to try it. The historic hotel is situated between Montemassi and Roccatederighi villages, which have grown around old fortifications. It is located on a hillside resembling a large natural amphitheatre, surrounded by middle age castles, offering stunning views till the sea, with the horizon line marked by the island of Giglio. Romantic rooms

The romantic hotel Pieve de Caminino offers after its renovation four romantic suites and three apartments in different sizes for two to five guests. With loving care, the owners decorated the rooms with antiquities and pieces of arts. The original brickwork, arches and old beams have been preserved. Each room of the Tuscany hotel has a bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom. But you may as well relax in the garden, on the terrace, at the fireplace and in one of the beautiful common rooms of the romantic hotel. Up to 40 people can meet in the magnificent former church of the historic hotel Pieve de Caminino.

You may book cooking courses in the Tuscany hotel Pieve de Caminino, but nobody will cook for you. All the rooms and apartments in the historic hotel have a kitchen. Alternatively, you may try the next trattoria (6 km) and taste Tuscany kitchen.

History and nature in Tuscany

The country house hotel Pieve de Caminino is surrounded by a unique landscape near Massa Marittima, 30 km to the north of the Casglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala coasts. This part of the coast with its white sandy beaches and the magnificent Pineta is among the most beautiful of the Maremma in Tuscany. Get enchanted by the combination of the sea and the mountains and the combination of history and nature. Indeed, Pieve di Caminino dates back to the age where the Etruscans here used to work the copper coming from the mining in the close Roccatederighi area.

The position is isolated, but Caminino is easy to be reached both from Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport (200 km-124 miles) and from Pisa Galilelo Galilei airport (180km-112miles). It is the ideal strategic home base to start many tours, from the local middle age centers, like Massa Marittima, Roccatederighi, Montemassi, Montepescali, to Siena (50 km) and Florence (130 km). A multitude of interesting places lie in the vicinity of Caminino. There are Etruscan and Roman archaeological sites and plenty of medieval towns. Golf courses, tennis courts and horseback riding all lie within a very reasonable distance from Caminino, and classes in painting, watercolor and Maremma cuisine can be organized upon request.
